Well, I was typing in a web address, and all of the sudden i couldnt do anything including turning it off. if you hold down the power button for a bit longer that 15 seconds, you should be good. if this doesn't work, plug it into the computer and do the same........ hope this helped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 I am so thrilled that I had the rare presence of mind to Google: "Nook color screen frozen" and this link page came up. I've only owned this new nookcolor 2 days, I was REALLY peeved when this occured. I was determined to return it Monday. YOU saved a frustrating situation. Big Thanks!!!

Mine froze and then I waited like 10-20 mins then it came on to the start screen. Just keep on pressing the power botton while it's frozen then wait the mins, and it will go back to the start screen. Hope this was helpful.

By putting it in the computer and holding the power button until it turns on. That is what worked for me

Two suggestions:

First, plug the charging cable gently into the nook color, then into the wall. Let it charge until the colored "n" at the end of the cable switches from yellow to green. Unplug from the wall and from your nook color and you're ready to go.

Second, get used to using the nook color by itself. Forget connecting it to a computer for the time being. Note that to register the device and to download material, you need to have a wifi connection. If you don't have a wireless router in your home, visit a store with wifi (Barnes & Noble store, Starbucks, McDonald's, etc.)
