I have 2 Nooks, and I download all books to both as I use my old Nook during the day and the Nook Color at night. While reading with my Nook Color I found pages "sticking". In fact the only way I could advance when it happened was to use the "tap screen" advance past the sticky page with the slide bar. That was aggravating enough until it started skipping pages....not by itself like other posters are reporting, but going from page 34 to 36 and 45 to 47.....and nothing I could do to recover the missing page. Well......since I download the same book to my old Nook, I switched to that and had no problem. Does this mean I should trade in the Color? AGGRAVATING!

Have you tried completely turning off your Nook and giving it about 10 seconds? That might solve the problem. If not, then the next step would be to erase and deregister your device (you'll need wifi). That should completely reset your Nook to factory settings and clear the problem, although you'd have to register and download all your stuff again.

I had a similar thing happen to me. It only happened once but I did turn my nook off and waited to turn it back on. After the reboot it was fine. It has never happened before or since. A fluke? I thought at the time it was more an issue with the book than my nook color but I don't know for sure.

Before you go through the unregistering and reregistering and all that...
Have you cleaned the screen?
When the screen is dirty (even if it doesn't appear dirty) the NC does all sorts of strange things. Problems with pages skipping and not turning is definitely one of them.

Thank you.....I will try that when it happens again....or if it happens again. I use screen shields so it can't be a dirty screen....

Thank you, I've turned it off and back on....hopefully it won't happen again. If it happens occasionally and all I have to do is turn in on and off.......I can live with that.

I was experiencing page sticking this very morning and all I did was clean my screen. It did work. I also turned off my nook and restarted it. Deregistering your nook should be a last resort. It is a pain to have reload all of your books...

The screen protectors get dirty as well, and need to be cleaned.

I too am getting the same issue. It started with my previous ebook and I put it down to the book itself as I clean the screen regularly.
I had it happen again with my new book today. It would not go past page 92 of 256 no matter what I did. In the past I resorted to rebooting the device but I think that is extreme so I had a chat with a nook techie on-line.
She sugested I Archived and then Unachive the book. This allowed me to progress but I now have a nagging feeling this issues has appeared recently.
I started looking to see if this is a widespread problem and came across this thread. Hopefully if this is a firmware issue it can be resolved as I was going to buy my Dad one but if this happened to him I would not hear the last of it.
I would be interested to know how the rest of you get on.

I haven't had it happen again but I don't use the NookColor often. I'm disappointed with it as a web browser...(enlarging the print is such a hassle) that I only use it to read when I'm riding in the car at night.
Since that isn't very often......my old Nook is primary.
The only problem I have ever had with my old Nook is it died about 8 months in to my first year. If this one dies I will buy another (they are cheaper now) and an extended warrenty. I might even consider a Kindle now that they allow Library downloads. I rarely buy a book, I read at least 3 library books a week..

I guess I must be a bit technically challenged...... Of course the screen cover gets dirty....but I couldn't wrap my brain around that being the cause of this problem. I turned the NookColor off and on again and it hasn't happened since. So it would be hard to believe it was a dirty screen cover......(still can't imagine that scenario). But thanks.....I will in the future wipe down the screen cover periodically.

I read books ALOT on my color Nook, and have had this happen to me many times. Both on downloaded books as well as books from my local library. It either won't turn to the next page, or gets in about a 3 page loop. ie page 10, then 11, then 12, then back to 10. The only way to get past it is to "slide forward then back" and hope to get near page 13.
It is VERY annoying on large (2500 pages) books. The slider will jump 10 or 15 pages on large books, and that's alot of "page flipping" to get back to the page you want.
I have never seen this happen before this firmware revision.
THIS IS AN ISSUE, B&N!!!
Please invesitigate and fix!

I get exactly the same problem on my Nook color -- the cycle, e.g. pg 8, pg 9, pg 10, pg 8. Can't get to page 11. I've tried a number of fixes and have always been able to get around the problem -- eventually. Very annoying, though. I hadn't tried cleaning the screen, though -- I'll add that to my list. Sometimes I skip to the next chapter, then page back. Sometimes change the font size. Both have worked at various times. Sometimes the (apparently) same problem occurs in the form of a skip: e.g., pg 8, pg 9, pg 11. Can't get to page 10. The irritating part is that sometimes I probably don't even notice the skip (if page 9 ended a paragraph and page 11 starts with a new paragraph, the skip may not be obvious). I only notice if the continuation makes no sense. If it's all a matter of cleaning the screen, great. If not, this product is not exactly as good as it should be.

I had no page turning issues until upgrade 1.4.1. There is definetly something wrong with the way page turning works...B&N needs to fix it!!!!!!!!!!
Pages stick (rarely happens, but it does) and the worst....i try to figure out where the heck i was before i turned the page...the pages skip - mostly backwards. This is happening quite often.
I read at least 4 books a week and these problems are working my patience!
I would hate to get a kindle instead since i have bought a lot of books already.

I have the exact same problem, and have since the latest upgrade. In addition to the pages "sticking" and a complete inability to move past a certain page without using the slider or "Go To Page" button, I've noticed that books that were previously read with no problems have wonky page numbers. For example, say I am on page 11 turn the page, but the page will just recycle to the same page 11. If I use the "Go To" button to move to page 12, it will move to a prior page, like page 9. The page numbers have occassionally been in an order like this: page 11, 9,15,13 and so on. I have only noticed this because I am familiar with the books and know what order the story is supposed to be in. It doesn't usually become a problem unless it starts sticking, but now that I have to pay attention to the page number on every page, in case it sticks, it is very frustrating. I keep a clean screen and regularly power down. I think it is definately an upgrade problem that B & N needs to check out.

Add me to the ranks of those who are having this issue. It has happened with 3 separate books now. This along with my battery reading that is charging when it is not plugged in is making me think the last update was incredibly buggy.

I updated to 1.4.1 last week and now I'm having the page turning and page sticking problem. One day it started flipping pages and wouldn't start. Then it stuck and I couldn't go backwards or forwards, nor would it power off. I just left it sitting for hours hoping it would run out of battery. After a few hours, I could power it off and then it worked all right. Now tonight, it stuck and I can't change the page backward or forward. Plus the content/page scroll bar keeps flashing off and on, but won't respond. Again, it won't power off. Obviously, the update is as bad as when it first came out, because some of these posts are from September, 2011.

I am having this same problem, and just posted on a different thread about it. At least I am not the only one. Page turns worked perfectly until I updated to 1.4.1, and it has happened on three different ebooks. This has to get fixed. It is making reading unpleasant and frustrating.
