1. I just got the sdhc 16 gb in my regular nook (3g wifi). Works ok so far, but only gives me
14.91 gb. Also the interior is 1.27 gb, not 2. Why doesn't it show 16 +2gb???
***
2. I didn't realize until the instructions that on the Nook Color, the card is class 6.
I bought a 16 gb sdhc CLASS 4. ???Will that not work and does it have to be class 6?
Thanks - new all to this!

This is normal for all storage devices. System uses some of the space.

It does not have to be a class 6, the one you got should be fine. Class 6 is useful for digital cameras that need fast write speed.
Thanks - new all to this!

Hi guys, I just got a Nookcolor and was wondering if there are any compatibility issues with SDHC cards. I've seen great prices on 32Gb Class 10 units, but don't want to get something that the nook won't recognize. Thanks

Have read issues on people using them with CM7 or Honeycomb running from card. As class 10 can be a mixed bag on reliabilty.
Wouldn't buy a class 10 unless I did extensive research on brand name. And would be wary of super cheap than the rest of the class 10's.

Hi all
,
I love my Nook Color. I've used up the memory. I now need to expand. I wanted to buy a 32GB. I'm a newbie & know nothing about 6 Class to 10 Class.
People mentined the SanDisk 32GB MicroSDHC Card (SDSDQ-032G-A11M, US Retail Package). Is this compatible w/my Nook Color? And are there any possible issues w/it? ![]()

That should work fine, although that is a lot of memory. I've had no problems at all with class 4 cards either Sandisk or Kingston.

In addition to the system taking up space on the internal memory, you also have differences in how the nook (or a computer) counts flash memory and how the manufacturer counts it. The same problem exists with hard drives.
According to the manufacturer, a 16 GB flash memory card has 16,000,000,000 bytes. (1 KB = 1000 B, 1 MB = 1000 KB = 1,000,000 B, and 1 GB = 1000 MB = 1,000,000 KB = 1,000,000,000 B)
However, the nook (and Windows) counts by 1024 not 1000. (1 KB = 1024 B, 1 MB = 1024 KB = 1,048,576 B, and 1 GB = 1024 MB = 1,048,576 KB = 1,073,741,824 B)
So, the nook will show a 16 GB memory card as 16 * 1,000,000,000 / 1,073,741,824 = 14.9 GB.

I did get it. I understand the card to give me more memory costs about $20 and the new nook is almost $200. But I can't download anything else right now. I even archived more than 30 books and it did not give me more memory. In fact it looks like it caused the memory remaining to go down by 3%. That did not make sense.

ASSUMING YOUR NOOK READER uses uSD (microSD) cards, you can move the card over to a new NOOK when, and if, you buy one. (I'm not sure about the N1E) If it uses a bigger SD card, you can buy a microSD with an adapter that will work.
Sounds like you'd be well served by buying a uSD card ASAP. I'd suggest 8 GB or greater so you just don't have to worry about it. Ever. You can get good quality SANDISK 16 GB uSD cards for about $15 now.

Thanks. That is what I am going to do right now, that is go to Best Buy and get the card or at least see if it will work.
