Screen capture - How do you do it

I was browsing through my nookcolor gallery and realized I did a screen capture a couple of times while reading a book (I saw 2 pictures of a page I was reading in the gallery).  Can someone tell me how I did that?

I'm thinking hey, this is a feature that I didn't know existed and I used it and didn't even know it and don't know how I did it.  But now I know it can be done, how do I deliberately do it?

Just learned this today --

Screenshots:  press the home button and the down volume button simultaneously.  You can go into gallery and see it there.  You should also receive a notification that this has been accomplished (screen shot).

I get the volume popup in the screenshot if I dont hold my mouth just right and the toes of my left foot have to be pointed east.  WTH  :smileywink:

Ok when I capture then view using the camera icon on the bottom left I see the volume popup in the pic. When I view the thumbnail pic in the gallery the popup is not there. If I view the full pic the popup is there. Oh the love hate relationship continues. Lol

I find it works best if you press and hold the Home button and then click the volume down.  This avoids getting the volume popup in the capture.

  • Wow, thanks Zola!
  • How did you find out about that?  Experimenting, or does BN document that somewhere?

Maybe it's an Easter egg!    :smileyvery-happy:

An intentional one, of course.  It lights up the little camera icon at the bottom.

I believe I just found it going through the 101 Tips for Nook Color Tips, etc by William Percy or the Nook Color Survival Guide -- I have both of them loaded.  It caught my eye because about a month ago I learned how to successfully do screen shots on my PC - (knew you could do it but not the how and when I tried I did not think it worked (it was operator error on my part).

I always tend to try to get a hold of a publication that is not the "User's Manual" to help out on these types of devices.  Anyway, the 101 Tips book is inexpensive, 14 pages long and is easier to get through than the manual.
