User not activated

I successfully uploaded the 1.4 update.  Now, I can't open any sideloaded book.  I am in the middle of a library book!!  Help!

I get the message: user not activated.  I have reconnected to Adobe Digital Additions.  It asked if I wanted to authorize the new device.  I said yes.  I have redownloaded the book twice.   Still get the same message.

Please help.

Re: User not activated

Customer service solve my problem.  here is there solution:

Note: ADE stands for Adobe Digital Editions.

1. Connect your device to your computer and make sure ADE is not running
yet.
2. (OPTIONAL) Open the "nook" or "NOOK Color" drive and create a backup
copy of the ".adobe-digital-editions" file and "Digital Editions" folder
on your computer.
3. Delete ".adobe-digital-editions" file and "Digital Editions" folder
in the "nook"  or "NOOK Color" drive.
4. Safely remove your NOOK Color.
5. Open ADE.
6. Connect your device again to the computer.
7. Click "Yes" when prompted to Authorize Device.
8. Click "Finish".
9. Transfer the files using ADE then safely remove your NOOK Color
again.
10. Go ahead and try to open the eBooks.

Re: User not activated

I experienced the same problem. The solution that worked for me was to delete my library epub file and its annotation file from the NC, then to re-authenticate the NC with Adobe Digital Editions, then sideload my books again from ADE, and then, importantly, shut down the NC completely and restart. My books were available to me again, and retained their bookmarks. I don't understand how the bookmarks were retained, but I'm not complaining.

. . .

Thank you for posting.  I had the same problem.  My search of the boards for a recent post about this error message led me to this thread and voila!--problem solved.

Re: User not activated

I tried both this and what the other post said. I uninstall ADE, deleted the folders on the NC, reinstalled only using Explorer not FF, and I cannot get get ADE to authorize my NC. I first get the Device Setup Assistant that tells me to authorize my device with the Adobe ID  I click on the authorize button and get error E_ADEPT_IO Activate Error%20#2032. I hit try again which prompts me to type in my id and password (which is valid - I even changed the password) which I do and then I get E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY I've tried everything over again, deleting ADE, deleting the digital edition files, rebooting the NC, etc, etc, etc. What I am doing wrong?

Re: User not activated

Never mind - I'm not sure what I did, but the device is now authorized. If anyone understands what happened, please post.

Re: User not activated

I had this problem. Didn't reinstall anything, just hooked up and got my NC authorized again, then everything was fine. I Was REALLY happy I had not returned my borrowed book yet or I would have lost it and had to put myself back on the waitlist again. That would have upset me.

I think the update was changed things enough that ADE didn't recognise it anymore and had to authorize it as another device. You shouldn't have a problem getting it authorized again unless you've used up all your authorizations already.

Re: User not activated

OK Folks, What do you do if you are on vacation and away from your computer. I am in the middle of a library book that will expire before I have access to my computer and I turn on my Nook and I can not access any of my books I downloaded for while I am gone and I did not bring any hard copy books. Am I SOL on my vacation?

The Adobe authorization is only needed for non-B&N books. Your B&N books will be fine.

But yes, until you authorize your Nook again you will not be able to read Adobe DRM books.

As far as I can remember previous updates did not delete the Adobe authorization (please correct me if I am wrong). So hopefully this was a one-off.

Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones, but I have had to "re-authorize" with ADE after every update on the NC.  To the point where I used up the maximum amount of "re-authorztions" that ADE allows and I had to contact Adobe via e-mail support to have them extend the authorization limit so I could continue reading my downloads....

I have been able to work through this with Adobe's online chat on two occasions. Drill down into the ADE pages and there should be a support chat option. It took about 10 minutes each time, and was not a big deal.

Re: User not activated

I'm having this problem with my Nook Simple Touch and I've tried this process and it didn't work.  Then I just went and delted everything.  I deleted all the finles including Adobe Digital editions and reinstalled it on my computer.  No matter what I did I couldn't get ADE to give me the prompt to authorize my device. I had to erase the authorization and re-authorize by the button next to the Nook icon in ADE.  It's still not working.  Any other suggestions out there?  I'm stuck and so very very annoyed.  Thanks

You need to delete the 2 ADE folders that are on your NST device (those contain the incorrect authorization information), not folders on your PC.
After deleting the 2 folders on your NST connect the NST to the PC with ADE running. ADE will detect there is no authorization information available on the device, and ask you to authorize it.

If you are using a Mac one of the ADE folders on the device will be hidden because the name starts with a dot.
