Web Page Not Available

[ Edited ]

I'm able to browse the web except for certain pages, particularly the log-in pages of Facebook or Gmail. The message I get says "Web page not available -- The Web page at [gmail's log-in page] might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address." Both the desktop and mobile versions produce this message. I don't think this is a connection issue because I can access other pages.

Thanks for your time.

Re: Web Page Not Available

Okay, I don't know if this is progress, but I have some more information. I was able to connect to Facebook, Gmail, etc. while connected to my university's wireless network, but once I got home the "Web Page Not Available" came back up. Perhaps it is a router issue, but I don't think this is enough information. I'll be going to a Barnes and Noble this weekend, so hopefully we can get to the bottom of this.

I posted above about the same thing.  I will take my NC to a McDonalds and see what happens with the Gmail and Facebook......This just sucks!:smileyfrustrated:

Re: Web Page Not Available

Sorry for the late response everyone. So I first contacted a Nook "expert" online for more than an hour, but he was just as clueless as I was. In the end, he suggested that I do a factory reset. Long story short, I went to Barnes and Noble and once I synced with the store, I think my problems fixed themselves.

I could connect to Facebook, Gmail, and all other websites I tried out. No more "Web Page Not Available." Because I wasn't really satisfied with this "solution," I tried it out on my friend's Nook Color that had similar problems. I got the same results; Once I synced his Nook with the store, he was magically able to connect to Facebook when he tried it out from his house.

BOTTOM LINE: Go to a Barnes and Noble store and sync with it for in-store capabilities.

I know this doesn't really answer why this error happens, but I can say with confidence that bringing the Nook to a store and syncing with it should solve the "Web Page Not Available" problems once you get back home. Please keep posting here if the problem persists and we'll try to properly solve the issue.
