Will B&N PLEASE consider adding support for eReader (pdb) books to nook Color?

Title pretty much says it all.  If B&N can't / won't add support for eReader (pdb) formatted books, could you at least let us install the Android version of eReader that B&N already owns on nook Color?

Thanks

Of course I am sure you know if they are not DRMed you can convert them with Calibre.  I am assuming though you mean the ones in secure ereader format from Fictionwise or the DRMed ones from ereader.com.  Those can't be converted.  I have let a mod know that people aren't happy about this, though I am sure they are aware of this from the posts about it.  I did try to send an email to customer service, but it wouldn't go through.

I am talking about over 4,000 eReader (pdb) DRM protected books purchased from B&N & B&N owned companies.  If B&N can't / won't add pdb support to the nook Color, I'm going to have to look elsewhere.  I want to support B&N, but in return, they need to support me.

I wanted a nook Color BECAUSE it is an LCD.  I can't stand the refresh rate of eInk displays.

That would be an elegant solution to the problem--they don't have to try and convert previously purchased books to a new format, but that would go a long way towards satisfying long-term loyal customers.

I'm in the same position as you, I have more than 700 titles from eReader/Fictionwise that I would like to read on my new NOOKcolor. I think it's simply wrong: the technology is there (the original nook was secure eReader compatible) but the new device doesn't support the same format used by two wholly owned subsidiaries of B&N.

One of the best illustrations of why we need to get rid of DRM--it only punishes the paying customers, and does absolutely nothing to stop piracy.

It is something that should be addressed.  The word from Nook_Engineer is that he has expressed the request to all the right people.  He also said that sometimes decisions such as this aren't quick in coming.

Why no one will at least say why such a decision was made in the first place is beyond me, but it doesn't seem to me it should be so hard.  I can understand them not wanting to let loose with some type of conversion program, but they could either allow the format to stand as is and support it or do the conversions themselves and offer that to customers of their companies.

Or, of course they could do what customers have begged them to do for a long time now-merge the libraries with the BN one.

Merging B&N and eReader/Fictionwise books would have me dancing in the streets for joy, then quickly settling down to read ALL my books on my new NOOKcolor.

Merging the libraries would be a great solution that would allow us to read all our books on the nook color AND any device that the nook reader will run on, but somehow, I don't think B&N are going to do that any time soon.

Re: Will B&N PLEASE consider adding support for eReader (pdb) books to nook Color?

Now that I have the full touchscreen of the NOOKcolor, I'm not as concerned about merging the B&N library and my own files. My biggest problem was how long it took to find things. Merging would be fabulous from a futureproofing standpoint, but I acknowledge that it could be a major pain--in essence B&N would be handing out a ton of free ebooks, which wouldn't make the publishers very happy at all. But *something* must be done to address the eReader/Fictionwise problem, since so many of us have hundreds or even thousands of titles in secure eReader format. I don't care what solution is chosen, be it mass library conversion or letting us install the eReader app on our NOOKcolor, or something else we haven't thought of yet.

What I find most interesting is that this is supposed to be a technical support forum and for 10 days now, no one from B&N (technical support or otherwise) has deigned to post anything - not even a non-commital reply like "We hear you" or "We're looking at it".
