I'm hooked up to my wifi. Finally.
Now, I can get onto the internet. I successfully got onto the BN page. But when I tried to download a book I had preordered, it just gave me that white bar in the middle of the book with the gray stripes, but didn't load green like it should have. And I attempted getting into the app store, but that didn't work either. It just said something like there are no results for that search, and the little circle kept spinning in the corner. Is this just an internet issue? I tried getting online on my laptop right afterwards, and the internet worked fine on there. I waited a LONG time for them to load both times, but nothing.

What was the fix, ultimately? I'm guessing just being double-plus sure on the password?
I've preemptively added that to the wifi troubleshooting cheklist.

Ahem. Password issues, yes
And thank you, Sandie, for your tip. I restarted and it worked just fine. I'm so glad that my new Nook is more than a paperweight, and I can use it in my house! Wifi hotspots are few and far between in these parts.
