my computer isn't recognizing my nook color. What do I do?

I attempted to upgrade the 1.0.0 software Tuesday.  It never responded and now the computer won't recognize that the nook color is hooked up to it.  What is the fix?

Not enough info given to provide help.

-How did you attempt the update?

-Did you download the update for a manual install?

-What do mean by "never responded"?

You may get more help if you take this over to one of the NookColor boards -

Make sure your NookColor is turned on and AWAKE before you plug it in. I panicked when mine didn't show up either, but it was sleeping...as soon as I woke it up it was recognized right away.

Exactly as mentioned below, if your NOOKcolor is on the welcome slider screen, you will need to slide the bar in order to have the computer recognize the device. Sideloading the update won't harm your device. If you've done anything incorrectly, it simply won't initiate the file and install it. No worries. Once you've hooked up your NOOKcolor, slide your finger across the screen and the USB mode notice will appear. Then you will see it on your computer.

It says unknown device and that the device is faulty.

Re: my computer isn't recognizing my nook color. What do I do?

Hey I'm sorry but can anyone help me? My nook was working perfectly fine until last night. I was about to download new wallpapers to my nook when a message came up saying that the USB device is not recognized and that windows does not recognize it. When I click on the message it brings me to a list of USB devices and one of the them is an unknown device. When I click on that it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" What should I do?!?
