I didn't know our post lengths had to meet with your approval.

FYI, I read it and saw no problem with the length.

And how does, "Whatever," help anyone with any issues?

Re: nook color: not as advertised

That person with problems posted the exact same thing in 2 different places. I don't know why since she has stated she's returning it. Maybe I'm strange (some would say yes), but I don't expend that level of effort when I am done with a product. I am mad, remove the offender, and move on. Some things listed could be true, some could be user error, some could be fantasy. I don't know, but I see little reason to explore this if no help is even wanted. Something smells funny.

Probably all of the above.  :smileyhappy:

Agreed.  I was going to try and help out, but when I saw that they already planned to return it, decided it wasn't worth the trouble.
They weren't asking for help, and appear to have just wanted to let off some steam.  That's fine, and 'mission accomplished', so nothing really to respond to.

*shrugs*  Whether one particular person wants help or not, I don't much care.  There are plenty of others who do and who benefit greatly by us not blowing everyone off just because we don't like the length, wording, or number of someone's postings.

Re: nook color: not as advertised

just my 2 cents on the side load issue.  If I go into my digital editions file in my library on my nook color and hold down on the side loaded book, an option comes up to add to the home screen.  Do it all the time with my library books and smashwords books.  The book cover comes up gray on the home screen but the title is there and quite readable.

Re: nook color: not as advertised

God knows I have been less than brief in posts before and I may have posted repeats as well. The same may be said for others here. The point is, many things within the original post and the carbon copy indicate an ignorance of some things, but it matters little because the author just wanted to yell. Many others, including me, find this less than helpful. It only serves to help others with questions if it is interactive, where we get to ask the author for clarity, and where we then get to offer suggestions.

Re: nook color: not as advertised

To the OP:

As a computer professional, I find your missive a little confusing.  Special characters in passwords are a relatively new phenomenon and haven't been supported in all systems.  I have to use passwords across a variety of systems and devices so I know to only use special characters on devices or systems that support them -- and not to assume any particular system will support them.

Not sure what you've been told but I have sideloaded books with icons and placed them on my home page.  However, you sometimes have to use something like Calibre to get the bookcover/icon to show up -- none of my books from Baen, purchased years ago for reading on my Palm Pilot, displayed their covers on the Nook Color until I loaded them into my Calibre library and used that to reload cover art then upload to my Nook Color.

To place the books on the home page, simply surf in the library, select the book and hold it down until your option menu pops up -- select "Add to Home" and  you're done.  I've done this with numerous sideloaded books and documents in EPUB, PDF, etc.
