The new software updates come at bad times and are pointless. This is a cheap ereader! I just want to read my library books and everytime it updates I have issues. Then I have to re-load them! And now nothing is working!
Obviously if I wanted a tablet I would have bought an Ipad NOT an ereader. How do you turn off the "updates"?

Don't turn on WiFi is the only way to not update, there's no opt out button. This is an issue some folks have with all Android devices, not just Nooks. There is no way to stop an update. Eventually, my phone updates even if I keep telling it no.
Most of the time the updates are big fixes, although one can continually hope that an update will give us working, usuable shelving feature.

Yeah, the easiest way to stop them is to leave the wi-fi turned off. In the future, I'm just going to have to remember to not turn on the wi-fi again until I've finished reading all my library books.
