So my mom just bought us both a Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight while I was visiting her. She lives in a big city in Ohio. I live in a very small town in GA. I'm having a problem connecting to my wi-fi in GA. I had no problems at my mom's. Both our routers use a sercurity password. Again, no problem at my mom's. Once home though, a huge headache. My router supports two computers (laptop and desktop), and my Wii game console. But I cannot connect my Nook. I called tech support 3 times. The first guy (James) was the nicest and was trying something the other two didn't (checking my router info), but my cell phone dropped the call. James also said something about AES and TPIK. The 2 other techs told me to call the router company. Something to do with the MAC. I'm so confused and am getting more irritated by the minute!! I have no problem connecting any other device to my router. Just the Nook. Tech Support wants to make it a router problem but it's obviously not. Any suggestions from anyone (other than throwing my Nook ST out with the trash)?
Router: Linksys WRT120N - Secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK
Software version: 1.1.5 (was told latest version was only 1.1.2)

sounds like tech support is confused about whether this is a nook touch (latest software, 1.1.2) or a nook touch with glow light (only software, 1.1.5 - at least, no one has tried loading 1.1.2 on it yet)
Nooks (and android devices generally) have a bit of an ugly history with connecting to wifi.
I don't think it's fair to blame either the router or the nook device for the issue; both play a role.
I assume you have tried turning your router off and then on again, and that did not fix the problem.
I put together a guide on troubleshooting Nook Color wifi connections which may help you with this connection as well, it's up at

I have a similar router - it might be the same exact model, or it might be the older Linksys WRT110 (I'm not home to check), but it absolutely did not work with the NST. I upgraded my router to a dual band n router (still Linksys) and had no issues connecting my nook.
I know that's not the answer you want, and maybe someone else here might have some ideas, but I'm pretty router-savvy and just could not find the right settings on this one.
I also found that my old g router that I had lying around worked with the nook, so I daisy chained them and got it going that way, before I bought the new router.

I told all support techs that I talked to that I had the simple touch with glowlight but the one that talked about the software might not have heard me. I truly think he thought I had stolen it or bought it from the black market!! I also tried unplugging the router and plugging it back in but to no avail. Thank you for the link. I am checking it out now and will let you know if it anything helps. I appreciate you trying to help me. Thank you.

Roustabout,
Thank you again for trying to help. I read through the link you gave me and although English is my native tongue, a lot of what I read seemed like a foreign language. I just don't believe it should be that hard to connect to a wireless router that doesn't seem to have a problem connecting other devices. I'll just have to sleep on this problem and come up with a different solution. Even if that solution is returning my Nook ST w/GL...

I realize that my writing tends to pitch toward the technical side of things, sorry.
My suggestion, then, is that you look at the cost of a Trendnet wireless access point or similar b/g access point. Where I live, you can easily find a tier-2 access point like for thirty dollars or so. Weigh the cost and hassle of setting that up against the value of the nook upgrade, and see what you think.

Are you sure your router at home is not configured to only accept connections from specific devices (eg, specific MAC addresses) ?
Acer Iconia A500: Android 4.0.3 rooted;; Nook Color: B&N 1.4.3 rooted
Nook Touch (two): B&N 1.2.1 rooted; Nook 1stEd/3G (two): B&N 1.7.0 rooted.
Customer loyalty is earned, not commanded or deserved, and easily lost.
Nothing is foolproof, because fools are so ingenious. Same for rooters.

This is easy to do even if you're not super tech savvy. And, you can use a regular router to do this also, if you come across a g or b/g router for cheap.
