Recommendations from non-Nook owners

I have friends and family who have Barnes and Noble accounts, but don't have a Nook.  Is there a way from their online account for them to make book recommendations and have them automagically show on my Nook?

I tried this with a friend who has a B&N online account, but no Nook.  I sent her a Nook friend invite and she accepted.  When I sent a recommendation, she got it on her B&N account.  However, when we looked at her online library, we didn't see any button to make recommendations to me.

Does she have a link for My NOOK at the top of the screen?

I know this is counter-intuitive, since she doesn't own one, but normally recommendations would go through the Friends section there. (I think there might be a way to do this if your Facebook accounts are linked, but I don't use this function, so i really don't know.)
