For the last few weeks, the button that I use to page forward has become increasingly "sticky", i.e., it will rapidly scroll forward through pages after I press it once.
I called B&N Support, and they are sending me a replacement NST. I found that the key to quickly bypassing a bunch of irrelevant diagnostics was to stress to the tech that the button in question feels physically different from the others now--it feels soft.
That might help others who experience this problem.
