syncing bookmarks and last page read with iPad app

I have just purchased the new Nook Simple Touch Reader. Does it sync the last page read and bookmarks with the iPad app? That is, if I read a book on the iPad using the Nook app and then go to the nook, will it sync the last page read and any bookmarks? I can't seem to make it work.
I have contacted tech support and the tech suggested reset everything. I did that, but still nothing syncs between the two.
And I have also used the sync button on both the iPad app and Nook to see if that works. It doesn't.
Thanks for any info or help.

According to the manual (p. 27) you have to be connected to WiFi when you open and close the ebook for this to work:
Jumping to the furthest page read
If you've been reading this book or periodical on some other device (such as a desktop computer or a smartphone) using a NOOK application, and your NOOK has access to the Internet through its Wi-Fi connection, then when you open a book or periodical, your NOOK will compare the last page you read on the NOOK to the last page you read on any other device.
If you have read further on the other device, your NOOK jumps to the furthest page you've read, even if you haven't read that page on your NOOK.
I have not tried it yet so I can't say whether it has any problems or not.

Thanks for the manual page number reference and the directions. Unfortunately, my nook doesn't seem to be syncing with the other nook applications.
I wonder if anyone else if having this problem.
Or if tech support knows of any problems with this.

No problem. I'd like to know as well. I haven't had to use it yet, but it will be really inconvenient if it doesn't work between my Android phone, my NC, and my N2E.
I'll do some experimenting later today or tomorrow, as soon as I can find the time. ![]()

I can't get my stuff to sync either. This is ridiculous. If I can't sync across devices then what's the point of buying content from B&N. I've heard the stock NOOKcolor has the same problem. I'm no longer using stock. I replaced my ROM and use the NOOK Android app now.

I've seen a couple other posts on this too. It seems the N2Es aren't syncing for quite a few people.

I just checked and it's not syncing with my Droid X. My original Nook syncs fine.

Would I be safe to assume this is a software issue and not a hardware issue? No need to take back the nook? Just wait for an upgrade to the software?

I would think so. Maybe someone forgot to flip the switch at B&N headquarters? It is annoying though.

I just got off the phone with Tech Support. After being on hold while the issue was supposedly researched, I was informed they know you can't sync last page read. Unreal.

Actually, I have had it work between my NC and the Nook app on my iPhone and macbook pro. However, it has not been consistent and I would say it seems to have worked less often than not.

Yeah, their tech support has a bit of a communication issue. Someone will escalate an issue up, but then management doesn't notify back down to Tech Support, so the person you talk to has no idea what kinds of problems the other Tech Support people are getting calls about, what management knows or what's being worked on. This has been an ongoing issue since the first nook came out.
You'd think it'd be as simple as a notification email going out to a distribution list (i.e. here are the issues we know about, here's what we're working on, etc.) so everyone would be in the loop.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Clearly, this is a problem with at least some of the new Nooks. I'll wait for a software update; I think that should fix the problem. I like the new Nook for its compactness, touch screen, and E-ink display. While the iPad definitely has its advantages, as a dedicated e-reader for when I just want to read a book without distractions, the new Nook seems perfect.

Thank you for writing to us. We apologize for the difficulties you are experiencing.
At the moment, your NOOK app has the ability to read NOOKbooks on multiple devices, that is you can open the same NOOK book in iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, BlackBerry, PC, and Mac.
B&N are working on improving our NOOK applications but for synchronizing the NOOK book to last page read between devices, we're still coming up with this feature. For now B&N has not disclosed any information yet. We are working on this project, so please visit our website often for the latest updates.

Did you get it to sync yet!!!! Quite annoying!!! I carry my nook around with me. I read on my ipad at home. Today I spent too much time trying to get the last page read. I have the new nook which is the problem. I also have the older nook.

Was wondering if there is a solution to this issue. My NST still doesn't sync, and it appears that it's not going to according to a previous post. Maybe it wasn't meant to?
