I applied for and received this card primarily so I can get the gift card & also 5% credit on my statement when I buy my Nook. I am waiting for the $25 gift card before I buy.
The BN Mastercard website clearly states the 5% applies to ANY purchase in BN stores as well as BN online.
I was told by a clerk in BN store the other day that the 5% credit won't apply on the Nook purchase-no promotions allowed.
Has anyone had any experience with this?

I seriously doubt this is true. I think you will get the 5% off b/c this is something the credit card company (Barclay) does. Not bn. I'm almost positive you would still get it. It is credited on ur bill. Be aware though that you will not get the $25 gift card until after you make ur 1st purchase on the card. If I were u I would buy a really cheap ebook with the card so that you'll get ur $25 gift card. Then use that to buy the nook. You may be able to call Barclay to make sure you'll get the 5% off.

The BN MasterCard is a wonder for us true B&N customers. Yes I received the 5% back when I purchased my Nook on it and I have received the 5% back on every ebook I have purchased from 99 cents to 9.99. I follow the account online...you will see the charge for the book and then immediately a minus for the amount of the 5%. I applied for the card the day it was introduced. But yes you have to make a purchase before the $25 gift card is sent to you! Then you can apply that to your Nook!

I applied for the B&N Mastercard specifically to use to purchase nook and books/ebooks from B&N. I received the rebate on my nook as well as for every item, including ebooks, I've purchased from B&N. For me it's like getting the tax back since our tax is 5% here. I'm waiting for the $25 gift card but plan to use it to purchase ebooks.
I too follow the account online and can see each charge and then the credit of 5%, I'm glad they don't make you wait for it!
