Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Can the next update let us Browse 'my documents' with the same covers as B&N library?

One flaw of the otherwise wonderful nook is that when in 'my library' as opposed to b&n's I can't flick through the covers like I can with b&n. This makes going through TONS of books MUCH faster than clunky menus (which if I had 14,000 eBooks on the thing I would have to press the button 1400 times to get to the end of the book listings. At least a title search or something would make things easier.

I'm Hopefull!

I don't understand why this features were not in the original firmware, or at least the 1.2 update. Why have a memory card that can holds hundreds of books and no way to search except by wearing out your page button. And why have all those colorful covers and no way to see them on that color screen they tought so highly.

Their customer service has improved, though. Only took 10 minutes to get a person and he stayed on the line with me for over an hour. But then again, he wasn't able to fix the problem. Nook wouldn't recognize the ebooks on the SD card. I finally figured out I had a bad file on the card. Hopefully that is something they can fix with the next firmware. One bad file shouldn't keep the rest of the files from loading. At least an error message pointing to the bad file would help.

Please check other threads, this has been hashed over extensively.

Re: Can the next update let us Browse 'my documents' with the same covers as B&N library?

I found the bad file by going through all my ebooks on the SD card and looking for files that didn't end in epub. I keep mine in individual folders by authors name so it took awhile to go through 500 ebooks. I found an epub file that was 0 bytes and another file with a strange extension. Once I deleted these the nook was able to find books on the SD card.

It would be nice if the nook didn't lock up when it runs into a file it can't read. An error message popup would be more helpful. Either that or ignore the ones it can't read and load the ones it can. Just freezing, with no error message, is not a good feature.

Hopefully they will fix all these gripes and freezeups in the next version. I read for a little bit at night before I go to bed and every morning my nook is frozen. I've tried letting it go to sleep on it's own and putting it into sleep mode myself. Always locked up in the morning. Maybe I need to shut it off completely each night.
