Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Cell Phone Stylus for Nook

I bought a stylus to use on my Nook touchscreen.  Here's my experience so far:

1. GOOD for pressing buttons/menu options.

2. NO GOOD for anything requiring movement, e.g., cover flow, menu scroll, page turn swipe.

Is anyone having any better luck with a stylus?  If so, which stylus are you using?

Thanks :smileyhappy:

@KeithK

I got this one (actually two).  Total cost, shipping included, was $2.99:

Re: Cell Phone Stylus for Nook

Why do you need one?  I have large fingers and find that with few exceptions a stylus isn't helpful.  The only issue I ever encounter is an occasional problem scrolling the major icons.

I got it mainly for use on the keyboard -- where it should be very good, especially for a person with large fingers -- and because I don't like fingerprints on my touchscreen.  As I said in my original post, it's practically useless for scrolling, unless someone can clue me in to a better technique than I'm using.

I gave up styli when I got rid of my Palm Pilots and Ciies.  I'm never going back to using a stylus again.

Yeah, but how long are YOUR nails?  :smileywink:

Seriously, I rarely use them BUT when the big P kicks up and my hands start shaking it's a real help with little buttons like on the virtual keyboards.

My nails?  They're tasty and well-bitten (although I'm actually trying to fix that)...

Chili powder at about the age of 3 took care of my problem.  Thanks Mom!  :smileywink:

That wouldn't work for me.  I have a cabinet shelf with about 30 different kinds of hot sauce on it.  And they're REALLY hot!

Yeah, but it worked great at 3!

My dad takes hot sauce, hot salsa and a full jar of really hot peppers, mixes it all up and eats it all down when he has a cold.  Just the lingering fumes can clear out the rest of our sinuses!

Re: Cell Phone Stylus for Nook

Just remember that a regular plastic stylus for pressure sensitive devices will not work for the Nook as the touchscreen is electro-static sensitive, not pressure sensitive.  You want a stylus for something like an iPhone or other device which is meant to be used with fingers, not a normal PDA stylus.

Re: Cell Phone Stylus for Nook

Sorry, I have a really silly question.

How is the rubber tip different than a pencil eraser?
