Just a note of caution about Fictionwise. I bought 4 books, used the coupon successfully and proceeded to download my books.
The first 3 were fine and opened in ADE with no problem. The 4th book will not open at all.
I wrote to Fictionwise and received one response saying that there is nothing wrong with the file.
Unfortunately, that's not true and they have failed to respond to my last two emails.
I'm glad it wasn't a very expensive lesson but still, $5 is $5. No more Fictionwise for me and I would urge others to be cautious.

@ Lynns_Nook,
Just out of curiosity, have you tried to drag the book directly to your "my documents" without going through ADE?
I have three books (same author) that would not go into Calibre or ADE. Calibre said they were protected by DRM, ADE did not see them when I tried to import them. I did download one of them to my iPod before dragging them to my nook and was requested to enter the unlock code, which I did. Maybe that had something to do with it, I don't know.

I did try dragging it directly into the Nook but it didn't show up there. But, thanks for the suggestion.
I tried downloading the file again with the same result.
One of the other books that did work was by the same author and publisher so I think it's just a defective file from Fictionwise.
I've given up on it and will just chalk it up as a learning experience but I think others should be aware that Fictionwise has failed to make it good.

I bought the His Dark Materials trilogy from Philip Pullman. The third book sideloaded into my Nook without a problem. The first two, though, say "Unknown Author".
I e-mailed Fictionwise through the website, and they got back to me yesterday to say that the files had been fixed and to download them again, so I did. Unfortunately, still "Unknown Author".
I let them know, and am awaiting further developments. In fairness, I should add that I've had no trouble with the other six books I bought in the sale.

For eReader (pdb) format: go to your bookshelf and click on "Update My Profile" on the left side. Enter your credit card under "Secure eReader Unlock Code". Then you can go back to your bookshelf and download your books. I'm not sure about ePub because none of the books that I've bought from Fictionwise were available in that format. There's no option to update an ePub unlock code, so maybe those go through ADE?

I blame all of you. I had not planned on buying any books in the next couple of months. I was just checking them out from the library and was happy with that, but no, you had to go and give me a coupon that is 50% off. I resisted as long as a could and those were a tough two hours. I finally succumbed and ended up getting about 10 books yesterday.

Well, thanks to you, Frog, I just used up all $200 worth of my credits (which also got me some more credits!) and am 60 books richer, lol. I'm kinda sad though - I loved the FW business model, and really hate that I can't give them business anymore. I, too, wonder why 1) they had a 50% off coupon at all, and 2) why they have not yet disabled it. I think the end is near for FW :-(

You're welcome. ![]()
I ended up with over 100 books, best news was they were all something I wanted... I couldn't believe it when the credits generated MORE credits (an extra $55 or so for me)...
Yeah, it's sad... I loved shopping there prior to April 1st. ![]()

Okay, somebody help me out here ... how do I find this fictionwise deal? I went to BN.com but finding anything there is an exercise in self-flagelation. Probably no longer working, but if it comes up again I'd like to know how to find these deals!

@Brucester:
Fictionwise is a separate company which, although owned by B&N, has its own website: www.fictionwise.com. Judging by some of today's postings, the 50% off code may still be working, but, as other posters have noted, Fictionwise is probably on its last leg for a lot of reasons. If you want to know more about how Fictionwise worked in the past, run a search on these boards.
