Just bought my nook today, and overall I like it, and after using it for a few hours there are couple features I would like implemented in the next firmware update. I not sure if this an appropriate place for this discussion, but here we go.
1) GOTO page
I loaded a couple of textbook I have in pdfs on to the nook. It has a nice formatted chapter marks so getting around wasn't horrible, but the chapters were around 40 pages, that means I have to click the next/back button an average of 10 times to get to a randomly selected page.
2) Option to turn off header and page bar
Together, the header (with the battery, time, and book title) and the page bar at the bottom take up about 8% of the vertical page space. The nook has a pretty small screen to begin with, so screen real estate is very important. I not saying that the time isn't useful but my content is just more important, give me the option to turn it off and give me back my 1cm. This is especially important for reading pdfs in their natural formatting.
