Free @ Fictionwise: Murder List by Julie Garwood

I know this is a duplicate post (also in eBook Discussion) but I thought I would post it here also for those that do not habitually check that board, this is one of the best free book opportunities I've seen.

This is a wonderful book, I already own it in HB and eBook but thought it might be good for others!

Apparently this book is no longer free (?) Clicking on the link takes you to the page where its listed for free but in the upper right corner it says 'no longer on sale' and searching for the title takes you to the page where its offered for $7.99....unless I'm missing something?

Hmmm, I don't know, both links still show up as free for me.

Scratch that, I hadn't looked in the corner, Murder List looks like it's gone.  Atomic Lobster is still free though.

I am a new Nook owner and have been disappointed in the free ebook selection.  Most of what I have seen tend to be romance novels almost going to pornographic.  How do I download the books from this site to my nook?

Annie, unfortunately the old saying usually holds true - you get what you pay for.  However, there have been some good free books made available - I picked up Moon and Sixpence and the Adventures of Tom Sawyer from B&N.  You can get good free older books from Gutenberg and EpubBooks.com.

To stay up to date on the latest free eBooks, check in on Inkmesh.com once a day.  They announce a lot of them.

Thanks for the information on the other book sites and the books.  One more question, how do I download from those sites to my Nook?  I'm not sure how to do it from sites other than B&N.

Have you read the Outland Series?  All of the books in the series are incredible.  A masterful author who keeps your attention.  The books are large but I was never bored.  When you turn the page on each book in the series it's just like you turned the page of the book before.

Thanks for letting me know how to download books from other sites to my Nook.

There are two ways (well im sure there are more then two ways) that I have side loaded content.  One is to just drag and drop the books into the folder on my nook called my documents.  If you are using a pc you will have to open your nook in my computer once it is connected via usb.  If your using a mac the nook should be mounted onto the desktop.  By double clicking the nook image it will open it up just as if you were on a pc.  Like i said you can just drag the files to the nook folder located to my documents and eject the nook.  Sometimes you will have to turn of the nook and restart it before they become available in your my documents on the nook itself.

The other way, and to me the much simpler way, is to download the free program calibre.  Not only will this add your books to your nook but will also allow you to change the metadata and cover art if you so feel inclined. Once you download calibre, you go to the first "iconish" thing on the top left page and add books.  Once your book is added you can change your metadata and even confert them from many ebook formats to ones that you like better.  I prefer ePubs over pdfs.  If you have the program set to the ereader you are using (ie.nook) it will know that you want to convert the books to ePubs (if you so choose to convert).  Once you have all of the books you have downloaded from non B&N websites onto the calibre software you just connect your nook via usb and hit the send to ereader icon.  Once again you will unmount or eject your nook and probably have to restart it before your new sideloaded content is available.  Hope this helps!

Annie, do you mean Diana Gabaldon's Outlander?  I love the Outlander series!  In fact even though I have Outlander in print (hardcover) it was the first book I purchased for my nook.   I reread often and how nice to now have it available now anytime and anywhere.

Yes, I do mean the Outlander Series.  Have you read all the books?  I have them all in book form because I only just purchased my Nook a month ago.  How handy to have on a Nook, though.

I don't know if you are interested in the Tudors or not, but Phillippa Gregory's books are fascinating as are Alison Weir's.  I really love Historical Fiction and am going to England again for a month in June (I was born there) and am going to all the places that I read about.

By far, as a writer, Diana Galbadon is a genius.  It always amazes me when I pick up one of her huge books and she manages to keep your attention.  I consider all her books together as one huge book because she never makes you feel that you stopped reading one book when you pick up the next.

By the way, thanks for all of your help concerning "sideloading".  I have downloaded the "Alice in Wonderland" desktops so when I have time to really concentrate, I am going to attempt loading those and books from other Sellers to my Nook.

Atomic Lobster is a great book but Tim Dorsey is probably best read chronologically.  Atomic Lobster is a later book in the series and there's a lot of character development that went on before this book.

Also, Tim Dorsey is kind of warped.  I love his stuff but you either "get it" or you don't.
