Free screensaver photo

Ok, custom screensavers are a dangerous thing...I may have found myself repeatedly putting my nook to sleep and waking it up again so I could cycle through the images... :smileytongue:

Anyway, I thought I'd post a pic or two for anyone who likes them to use. Just one so far, but I plan to add more as I have time. I've cropped & resized to 600x800 pixels, and I changed it to 16-color grayscale before saving, so (hopefully) the image should look the same on the Nook as it does online.

The first is a photo of Cathedral Square in Christchurch, which I took back in 2005. If you click the image, it'll take you to my blog--full size is there.

Screensaver number three: a trillium, purple, though you can't tell from the image. Found this just at the edge of the Redwoods. Click the picture if you'd like the full size (for some reason, I think it looks better full-size--something with the way it shrinks it to show on the forum in a manageable size).

Cheers :smileyhappy:

Re: Free screensaver photo

You should upload your photos to http://nook-look.com/.  It's a great resource for finding and sharing nook screensavers.

Thanks for the suggestion!

...hmm, quite a few irrelevant facebook-type images there, huh? on the first few pages anyway - looks like the cool ones are several pages back right now. :smileyhappy:

Thanks, Connie! :smileyhappy:

...so should I only put these photos up over at nook-looks, or keep posting them here too?

My vote is to continue updating this thread.  I enjoy your photos and probably would miss them at nook-look, because I'm not actively searching new wallpapers/screensavers.

That's purely my own selfish vote, however.  :smileyvery-happy:

I vote to keep posting here as well. I'm not actively looking at nook-look.com any more for screensavers, but I love your photos.

I'm glad you guys like them! Guess I should post another, then, huh? :smileywink:

This is a view over a bay from the Otago Peninsula in the South Island of New Zealand, near Dunedin. It's another one from 2005.

Re: Free screensaver photo

Finally got a new one for you. This is a close shot of glass gems piled up the side of a glass bowl (the gems are aqua colored, though of course you wouldn't know from looking at the wallpaper :smileywink: ). Clicking the image takes you to the full size. Cheers!

Here's one of a fish sculpture in a fountain in Portland, Oregon, taken in 2007. Click the image to go to the full size. :smileyhappy:

Hi - since you are really adept at the screensavers, may I ask you a silly question?  I downloaded some Disney Princess screensavers- the file is on my Nook now.  So, I go to the Settings, then to screensavers, I click on the Disney Princess file, but every time the Bronte Sisters reappear.  What am I doing incorrectly?    Thanks.

Re: Free screensaver photo

You have to make a directory inside the screensaver directory like "DisneyPrincesses" and put the individual picture files in there (no zip archives allowed).

Then, "DisneyPrincesses" will show up on your list list of screensavers in the settings page.  If there is any problem (like it hits a zip file) I think it aborts and goes for the Brontes.

The manual says that the directory name has to be one word.  Some people here say mutiple words work but I haven't tried that myself.

Re: Free screensaver photo

Thank you so much for the directions - indeed, using one word did make the difference!  Love them! :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Free screensaver photo

I am having the same problem only with family pictures instead.  I have tried changing the names all to one word, and no luck, but only a few of them switch to the bronte sisters...anysuggestions?
