Now you are just being mean.
Maybe the ones who didnt get the 3g did so because they prefer to sideload books or use their wifi connections at home. Not everyone wants to download books on the go. Some people prepare before they leave home. In fact I dont see a need for wifi or 3g. Its not hard to just sideload a book on your computer.
What if I said you were too lazy to walk over to your computer and plug your ereader in, to sideload books?? Or too cheap to get a wifi router in your home and thats why you want 3g so bad??
Maybe you dont have internet service and want to download books on the cheap.
See we can make assumtions about you also.
Why did you even start this thread? You said two weeks ago you were going back to paper books.

I bought a 3G model because that was all that was available. I paid $259 for it. I also paid $249 for a WiFi-only NOOK Color and then $139 for a WiFi-only N2E. I spend somewhere around $200 a month on books--paper and ebooks--from B&N and have spent this much since 1994 when I had my first "real" job.
I gave my 3G NOOK away to a friend in February (it's technically lent since she refused to just take it from me but I have no intention of asking for it back and am going to unregister it and sideload all of my books that she wants on it as soon as I have some time lol)
Yeah, I obviously bought two WiFi-only models after buying a 3G model because I'm cheap. *rolls eyes*
WTH-ever.
I will never understand why Roy insists on coming here every few months just to insult people. With all of his generalizations about NOOK owners, he's only insulting himself as well.

The OP is certainly not cheap.
He bought a NC, sold it to a coworker for $188, bought a 3G Kindle, and has now apparently decided he likes the NC so he bought a second one.
He could have had an Ipad for that kind of dough, and added on a cell antenna for not too much more. Sure, there would be a data contract on it, but as long as he was careful not to overdo it on downloads, he could still have money left over for the meds he so clearly needs.

Do you realize how offensive this is? Are you just trying to provoke people?
I do not care for the 3g option as I have an N1E 3G and have only used the 3G once (and then I only did it because I didn't want to download the 1.6 update). I've owned my N1E since January 2010. It's not that I'm cheap, it's that I don't use the 3G so I don't see any reason to cry about the fact that B&N's latest device doesn't have it.

I keep coming back to this and shaking my head in awe.
My N1E Wifi was a gift. I didn't pay for it. My mother asked me to choose between NOOK, Kindle, Sony, whatever else was out there and she'd buy me one for my birthday.
If I had been paying for it, I probably would have bought the N1E 3G without much thought. Since someone else was paying (I'm always more careful with other people's money, ![]()
) I thought about it a lot.
How often was I going to be in a position to need 3G? How often would I be away from Wifi completely, because by the time I was researching them, NOOK had a beta browser which would allow me to connect to most public Wifi. I couldn't come up with many situations when I'd actually "need" 3G. I spend most of my time in large cities, so that I either have access to my home Wifi, or public Wifi. Time spent in airports would let me connect. Hotel Wifi spots were accessible. The rare occasions I'd use 3G weren't worth her spending an extra $50.
(I honestly can't believe you have issues finding reliable Wifi in NYC - I think it's user error - but hey why bring logic into the question?)
I didn't care for the 3G option because I didn't need it. Not because of it's price.

Well, I can tell him why I got a wifi only model, even though I could have gone with the wifi+3G version, and it had nothing to do with being cheap. Where I live, you can't seem to go anywhere without bumping into public wifi. Really. My gym has wifi, the library, cafes and book stores with wifi are everywhere (it's a college town), even my regular local grocery store has wifi. I think the mall has wifi, though I'm not 100% sure of that (it's next to the library). Heck, the Bob Evans has wifi. I don't live in a city, or even a large town.
I'm quite sure that if wifi where I live wasn't as plentiful as it is, I would have gone for the 3G model, but it is so I didn't. Yes, we're on a budget, but the extra $50 wouldn't have broken the bank. It was a birthday present from my husband, but he was going to get the more expensive model. I told him I wanted the less expensive wifi only version, because I honestly didn't see 3G as an important feature for me.

The battery on nc SUCKS even my ipad 2 last about 11 hours and thats with wifi on.NOOK Color does not work with WIFI in NYC, about a month ago I called to see if I can get it fix and there answer was to fix my WIFI the thing is my wifi works fine it works with every device except my crap color, I totally went off on the guy(name David) and all he did was apologize but could not do nothing for me but then he had the nerve to tell me to purchase books on my comp or go to a bn store cuz there wifi works great there, but i spent 279 tax included to be able to do it on my nook, well I want some of my money back for them cheating me.I'm going to give them ONE MORE CHANCE and that's it, come fall amazon will have my money from now on i'll just stop right now buying books on bn and finish the ones i got now till they give out something good if not then you will never hear from me again.

Dude. You are weird.
If BN sucks so much, why do you frequent the boards?
Go to Amazon. They are problem free I hear. Yup no problems at all. Their ereader works 100% flawlessly. I hear not one person has ever complained or returned them. I swear to god, NOT ONE. Its the perfect ereader for you. Just perfect for a simple mind like you.

WiFi in NYC works just fine. Do you really mean to try to convince us that B&N has created a device that won't work on WiFi anywhere in an entire city of 9 million people? Really??
Whatever.
You've sworn you were leaving B&N and never coming back ever and over again since you joined. Yet here you are, as usual. Your threats are unimpressive and your insults are unoriginal.
Do what you want, but accept the fact that you destroyed any credibility you might have had long ago.

Shoot - YES you caught us. We tried to use things like logical responses and big words and even seperate paragraphs but you still saw right through us.
You are 100% correct. Congratulations. You win. Now there is no need for you to come back and continue this debate. You can bop over to Amazon and we can go back to eating our Pork and Beans and seperating our 2 ply toilet paper to double the life of it.
I guess I will say at least we invested a few extra $'s into an ENTER key for our keyboard. something we all wish you would of done.
anyway, best of luck. shame you won't be back per your promise.

So, all it takes for us to be rid of roy is for BN to keep doing what they've been doing? Threaten me with a good time.
What a loss that would be. He comes here to whine about no 3g, wifi that's not working repeatedly. Well, it must be working somewhere in NYC since I have no doubt that a lot of sales for BN come from NYC and environs. And it really would be nice if roy would pick a story and stick with it. I can't keep up with the different versions of how he came by a NOOKcolor and what he eventually did with it, since it's been given away, kept, raffled off, sold or whatever the next version will be.
Yawn.

Sad.

NO one cares about the NOOKCOLOR in this thread. This thread is about you wishing for 3g on nook touch. People have been kind to you telling you why they think there will be no more free 3g with the Nooks. You respond by blaming people who buy the wifi only version and call them cheap.
This is the second thread you have started on this subject (if I had known I responded on your other one I would not have bothered with this one) If you cannot accept the reason people offered to you, just leave, instead of insulting a bunch of good people.
I hope the new kindle has no 3g just for your sake.
Seriously, your way of thinking is stilted and if i was the customer service person dealing with your arrogance I would have been rude as heck or pawned you off on upper management.

I asked you a direct question above that you either ignored or missed. Your whole logic is nook customers bought less wi + 3g then wi fi only models because they are cheap. So in turn, did Amazon sell MORE 3g models then wi fi only? It is just a yes or no question. Did they???

He ignored me too.
I DID buy the N1E 3G and I still don't think the new nook needs 3g. Am I cheap then, Roy? Huh? I must be cheap, I didn't buy a kindle, right Roy?

If anyone is cheap it is the kindle owner that is stirring the pot here. If you bought a 3G nook that means you paid more for 3G service. I got the 3G at Christmas and though the 3G works well if I could go back to December I would had saved 50 dollars and got the wifi only since I know now that if I had only wifi I could still get my purchases pretty easily by sideloading or heaven forbid waiting till I go to a wifi hotspot.
I would guess Amazon probably sells the 3G more just on the fact around here at best buy and target the only kindles they have are the 190 dollar models with 3G in them.
