Library book return

I borrowed a library ebook and it was due back on Saturday, but it hasn't yet left my nook. This is great, because I'm not finished reading it, but i was curious about when it will leave. I have not charged my nook since Friday, airplane mode is on, and it has only been going to sleep, not turning off. I have left the book open as well.

I'm just perplexed because I know some people have done the same thing but their books have been returned anyway. Anyone have a similar experience?

Re: Library book return

It won't leave your Nook - it will only become unreadible once it's closed.  You'll have to connect your Nook to your PC to delete the book file.

It is only automatically returned from ADE.

If you don't turn airplane mode off and you keep the book open you can read it until you are done. Next time you have airplane mode on it will be returned.

It doesn't work for me.  It's possible that my NOOK doesn't actually turn off the Wifi in Airplane Mode, though.  That might explain why I have such bad battery life, too.

One morning I was in the middle of a chapter of an expired library book.  I got up to take the dogs out.  I returned before NOOK had even had a chance to go to sleep, but the "Your document cannot be accessed" dialog was on my screen.  (I'm sure I have the verbiage wrong, but, that was the message of the dialog box.)

I've returned and deleted all of myr other library books early , so I don't have any other experiences to say if it was that particular book or what...

Nope.  If your local library has eBooks available, you can put them onto your Nook.  Most libraries have a selection.

Re: Library book return

If I deleted a library book from my computer and did not delete it with the Nook attached, is there a way to go back and get if off of my Nook?

Re: Library book return

I don't have the Nook in front of me, but you can delete a book right on the Nook. I think you do it with the book "highlighted" on the screen with the list of books (i.e. with the box around it, the place where you would touch the hollow button on the right to open the book) and I think from there you touch "options" and that's one of the options. You are given a couple of chances to change your mind; something to the effect of "are you sure" and when you touch yes, then you get "are you really, really sure." Not those exact words, but that's the gist of it.

If you happen to have the device hooked up to the computer at the time you want to delete, you can of course delete it from the computer.

If you don't "return" public library books, they will sit there forever in your Adobe Digital Editions with an "expired" tag on them.

You are correct.  I believe someone pointed out to me, in earlier updates, that the Nook had to be connected to the computer to delete a book.  I only know I have had 1.5 from the beginning and the option is there to delete the book from the nook now without hooking it up to the computer.

The funny thing is that I have had to recheck a book out a couple of times and when I download it to ADE then move it to the nook I get a window that says it is there already and wants to know it I want to "replace" or "duplicate" the book.  HMMMM maybe it does need to be deleted through the computer to get rid of it completely.  I may have a bunch of ghost on my Nook.  Time for "Ghost Busters".  Off to look in shadowy corners.
