Actually, it probably IS an accident (error on someone's part) because the Kindle version is lendable.

Please let me know if you got the book. I am used to getting a thanks or other acknowledgement after doing someone a favor and I just want to know that you got the book and it wasn't lost somewhere in hyperspace.
