Enjoy your new Kindle. And enjoy borrowing books from the public library - no, wait, you can't do that with a Kindle.
I wish I could do that with my Nook, not everyone has this service available in their location. I'd have to pay a fee to a larger library to do so and their ebook selection doesn't carry enough of the authors I read to justify it.

I just received a card from the Free Library of Philadelphia. I'm not a Phil resident so I paid $15 for one year, borrowed two books that I had intended to buy, more than covering the fee.
The selection seems as good or better than the NYPL.

I use this one too and I live in Texas. LONG ways from my "area", but I made the effort too because it is worth it! Thanks to so many people on these boards that are willing to help others find libraries and then willing to help us learn how to do it!

I think it is interesting with all of these that when you buy an extended warranty of 2 years the first year is consumed by the warranty that came with the device. So in reality you only get 1 year extended and not 2 years. Bummmmer!

They sure have a great e-book selection - well worth $15 per year. Right now I'm satisfied with my local library but I'm going to keep Philadelphia in mind.

How are you all searching for ebook authors without having a library card and pin? I must be doing something wrong..

I just poked around on the website and found their ebook catalog.
