N1E - case reccomendations?

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask this, and if not please direct me to the right place.

I've had some problems with the screen of my Nook 1st Edition (lines appearing)...I did some research and it appears to be an occasional issue with not only the nook but other eReaders that use eInk (the Kindle, the Sony, the Borders/Kobo one, etc.) .  According to a Kindle forum I found, it can happen if too much pressure is put on the screen.  I don't think I've been particularly hard on my Nook, but this has happened a few times so it does seem like I need to take better care of it.

Luckily, my Nook is still under warrantly and I'm getting it replaced.  I'm going to look for a new case - any reccomendations?  The biggest priority is something that protects the screen - fashion, style, color, whether it has pocket to hold paper, etc. are secondary.  The three ones I'm considering right now are the Industriell Cover, the Industriell Front Cover, and a Neoprene sleeve.  Anyone have any experience with any of these?  Is the Neoprense Sleeve big enough to hold the Nook with a cover on it?

Thanks!

Re: N1E - case reccomendations?

I had the Industriell cover and preferred it over the Industrell front cover because it also had the textured back.  I also preferred the clips to the elastic bands that other cases had.  The protection it offers is great.  I would recommend it fully.  The only downside was no pockets, but if you are like me I had no need for pockets in the case.  I still have it, but...

Recently the materialistic side of myself took over and I bought a Jack Spade cover because they were on a crazy sale at my local B&N store.  I got the black dipped cover for $19.  There was no way I would have spent the asking price of $80 on it.

This may not be helpful, since it's not one you're considering, but I've got the Signature Journal Cover, and I like the fact that there is this fairly thick pad of paper and the cover itself both protecting N1E when it's closed. I also like the clips and the security of the strap holding it together when closed.

Yeah, I saw the Journal cover after i posted my message, it looks nice too - my only real concern is if the pad of paper adds some bulk.  I like how it doesn't have a magnet though - I'm sure the magnet on the Industricell is safe, but I've had to return my current nook so many times that I'm a little paranoid about anything messing it up (my current crappy case has a magnet too).

But really, I'm open to any suggestions.  I know there are some good ones available outside B&N too, but I have a gift card to B&N so I'm leaning towards getting one from there.

I had the Industriell cover on for over a year with no issues.  I'm not sure why it has the magnet since it doesn't have the strap like the front cover one.  At any rate, I don't think it's a problem.  Only issue I ever had with it was that if I set my Motorola Droid on top of it the right way it would go into car mode.

Re: N1E - case reccomendations?

The Bleeker Cover is pretty decent and had a closing mechanism too with an band that goes the lenght of the cover.  The Bleeker cover also stiff so that you can put it in a book bag without too much pressure on the screen, and does not have the platic clips as holders, but the surrounds on the botton and fabric bands at the top.  You can still get a few from the stores I think...

If you go with an outside vendor, Oberondesign.com has decent covers as well (what I have currently, I upgraded)...they put in stiffeners (platic or thick bookboard) in the large pockets on either side...I'm VERY happy with my new cover...but it's a bit pricier than the B&N covers...

The pad of paper definitely adds bulk. Maybe a quarter inch - but it folds around behind when you're reading and the strap can be pulled around back to keep the pad of paper from flopping while you're reading. I have big hands, so the bulk doesn't bother me.

if the case has a magnetic button to close, does that drain the battery?

Re: N1E - case reccomendations?

Spartina 449 has some gorgeous covers if you're female. They're linen and leather and have a pocket for paper, ID window, and elastic loop for a pen. I have one on my N1E and get comments on it whenever I take it places. I wish they made them for the N2E. Oberon leather covers are gorgeous too. No pockets but beautiful tooled leather. I have an Oberon on my Kindle. The Spartina 449 cover was $38. The Oberon was about twice that.

Re: N1E - case reccomendations?

Some of the Oberon cases look fantastic, but they're a little bit out of my price range :smileyhappy:

Maybe I'll ask for one as a Christmas present!

Should have no effect on the battery.

Re: N1E - case reccomendations?

I have the Latitude jacket from M-Edge for mine. I love it so much that I bought one for my Nook Color, and am waiting for it to come out for my N2E. I love that it has a zipper, which means it can't open if something were to happen.
