Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

NOOKbook personal shopping for NOOK classic?

Has anyone heard if the personal shopping feature will be coming to NOOK classic or is it solely for the NOOK color?

Apparently it's a service that recommends new books based on your BN library and prior purchases.  If you look on the NOOK color site under features you'll see it.  I'd love to have this on my NOOK classic.

I had a feeling that's what it would be! I've been looking for a website that does this. Even Goodreads doesn't do it.

I want this!

It's really a hit or miss. I have it on the nook color. It hasn't picked one right for me based on what I read. It is only based on what you download, so if by chance you download a freebie that you may or may not be interested in it will give you books on that order.

I just go to Amazon and search for the book I want to buy and it gives me recommendations.   Then I buy the book I want here.

I do the same as AlanNJ - Amazon's recommendations have always been totally on target (maybe because they pull from your wishlist too).  So far BN could not be more off base, it's recommendations are laughable.

Something like what Netflix does would be cool - I believe they give you recommendations based on your ratings, not just what you watch.  Also, they take a guess at how well you will like a certain movie based on your ratings of similar movies.

I'd love to have this on the NOOK Classic! But defintely based on ratings, not just what's downloaded!

Re: NOOKbook personal shopping for NOOK classic?

I've had my nook for over a year now, which replaced my Kindle.  I loved the recommendations feature on the Kindle and Amazon's site and asked for it on the nook.  I was very excited to see B&N was offering this feature, but disappointed only for the nookcolor :smileysad:  In regards to a couple of the responses here and to encourage B&N to adapt their shopper to do the same, you can edit the recommendation options at Amazon to not include items.

I guess I'll keep cruising Goodreads for book recommendations for now...

Try the website LibraryThing. It makes recommendations based on books you have read. It allows you to keep a catalogue of books you have read.

I go to Amazon and search for the books I've purchased on B&N.  Then Amazon gives me recommendations based on that.  Then I purchase the books somewhere other than Amazon.
