New updates coming???

I was wondering if the original Nook will be getting any New updates.  I was thinking about the addition of the looking at books both straight up and sideways?  I have a friend that has a kindle and they just got that update.

Nobody ever knows until B&N makes an announcement (usually only a short time before the actual update happens)...

I have been wondering about new updates too.  Last update was June 2011.  I still have a Nook 1st Edition and I feel like we are forgotten about since they have put out all these other new improved versions of the Nook

I have to agree with all the users that believe BN won't be releasing a lot of new updates for the Nook 1st Edition.

Why continue to update an older device when their are plenty of newer nook devices on the market?

You've replied to a discussion fron last May.  After the June update the N1E was officially considered an end-of-life device and B&N has ceased to sell them.  They ran out of refurbished units this past autumn.  I believe that after 1.7 came out the official word was that there would be no more updates for the device.
