Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

New with nook 1st edition

Hi! First of all, I'm spanish and my english maybe isn't very good.

I have bought the nook with v1.7 installed. It's my first ereader and I like it! But, I have a question. B&N ebooks show the covers in lcd screen, but ebooks that I charge from my pc don't show the covers in lcd screen. Is possible to show these covers?

Thanks!

Re: New with nook 1st edition

If you copy over a JPG of the cover with the same name as the EPUB, it'll show on the lower screen when you're reading the e-book. Usually, but some times it won't. You don't get the "carousel" of covers, though. B&N reserved a number of the fancy features for B&N NOOK Books.

Since you're new with the unit, you might find this ancient posting helpful. Alas, the final item on the list is no longer true: Customer Service has been outsourced to the Phillipines for some time now.

Re: New with nook 1st edition

If you use a free program called calibre (just google it) to transfer your files, whatever cover it has will show up in the lcd screen. You still won't have all the perks of a B&N book, but you can also edit how the books name or author shows up on your nook.
