No keyboard to type text

I am trying to set up my nook, but when I try to connect to the internet to register-the nook asks for a password. But there does not seem to be a way to type a password in. Any advice?

Tap in the empty box that needs the password and a keyboard should come up.
Select "next" on the keyboard to go to the next box and the cursor will flash inside it.

I have tapped the password box, and the arrow next to it and nothing happens.

On which screen are you tapping? The main one or the color touch screen? All navigation is done with the touch screen.

Touch on the box where the password goes and a keyboard will appear on the bottom of your screen.

keep trying, It takes practice with the touch screen, you will get better at typing the more you use it, just keep trying inputing password, you hit the wrong key just backspace and try it again.

Just to wrap this up. Touching the box did not help. It was not an "operator error". The nook was not responding. The advice to do the factory fallback worked perfectly and now my nook works
