Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Nook 1st edition won't open inertnet

when i try to use internet on my nook first edition, a message keeps popping up that says the browser closed unexpectedly and then the browser closes again. Now this happens everytime. When i first got my nook it worked fine but now it just closes. How do i fix it?

Hi Mariah1596-- The first thing I think you should try is rebooting your device. If this doesn't work, you should call 1800THEBOOK or bring your device into your nearest B&N store to troubleshoot this problem with our digital tech specialists. Keep me posted on how it goes please--Sam

I read somewhere that unregistering my nook then re-registering it should help. Would it? I'm a bit concerned that it won't. Also, I've tried turning it on and off and it still doesn't open.

Only take this step as a last resort, as it means you'll have to redownload everything on your NOOK, recreate any shelves, you'll lose bookmarks and notes, reload any sideloaded content not on an SD card, etc.

Bear in mind, you may need to fully turn off (not just put to sleep) your NOOK. If you're not sure of the difference, please consult your User Manual or an in-store specialist.

Re: Nook 1st edition won't open internet

Thank you for the warning but I'm prepared to take that step and am aware that I'll have to re-download everything. And yes, I do know the difference between putting it to sleep and actually turning it off. I am just really frustrated that this happened to me because I am not sure of the cause.

Re: Nook 1st edition won't open internet

I've had this problem also for a few days.  Turning it off didn't work.  I'll have to travel a bit to get to my nearest B&N store, but I will to resolve this.
