Nook Color - What are the actual screen dimensions?

[ Edited ]

If I get a Nook Color it will have to be by mail order. To get a better idea of its size, can someone who owns one measure the height and width of the screen for me? With a 7" diagonal, 16:9 (1.78:1) aspect ratio, I calculate it should be 6.1" x 3.43" Can someone tell me if that is correct? Also is it a true 7" diagonal, or is it slightly smaller or larger, and rounded to an even 7" for marketing purposes? Thanks.

The screen itself is 6.25 x 3.75 approximately. Take off about 3/8ths" on the length and 2/8ths " on the width and that is the approximate dimensions of the backlit area. The backlit reading area is 1/8ths " shy of 7 inches. The screen itself is slightly more than 7 inches.

Hope that helps.

To add to what Varia_M said, the backlit area (i.e.; area with actual pixels) is exactly 7" diagonal, and you're very close with your estimates:  6-1/16" x 3-9/16".

Note also the semi-permanent status bar is exactly 1/4" tall (in either orientation), so you may want to account for that. I believe the only time it disappears is when playing a movie.
