Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Nook Extras

Are there other games you can  purchase or download for the nook?  Or do we only have the ability to use the two that came with it?

Re: Nook Extras

Only those two games, for now.

If you're looking for games/apps, you're probably better off with the iPad. The Nook is probably never going to be all that great for gaming.

Good reader, tho.

B&N will be creating an application store for the Nook Color in the next month or so.

Since the NOOK app store is accompanied by an SDK, I wouldn't be surprised to see games available for download when the store launches.  Nobody knows when that will be except Q1 2001, but...

Re: Nook Extras

If I bought a Nook Color now, would the upcoming B&N app store be available to my Nook Color that I purchased before the app store was launched?  Thanks for your help

Yep.  :smileyvery-happy:  (The app store will get pushed out in an update to all NOOK Colors out there.  So, if you buy now, and the store gets rolled-out in March, in March you'll get a firmware update on your device and you'll be able to shop - assuming all goes smoothly.  :smileytongue:  )

Re: Nook Extras

Not until March when the Nook developer program launches new apps (free and paid) similar to the android marketplace (although the android marketplace will be surpressed to avoid downloading kindle apps and the like)

You're right, I was citing an engadget article but I don't see an official press release from Bn... My apologies!

Re: Nook Extras

Alright another question. Does anybody know if this new "b&n app store" will be available to both the regular nook and the nook Color, or is it only the Nook Color?  Again, thanks for your help.

Re: Nook Extras

I'd wager my NOOK (and from me, thats BIG) that it's NOOKColor only.

Re: Nook Extras

Has B&N abandoned the idea of "extras" or apps as anyone else would describe them. It's been over 3 months since the launch and the only real change has been a minor browser improvement.

Have you seen any of the many posts regarding the release as being sometime in the first quarter of 2100?

I guess that was a major league OOPS.  Have to go recalibrate the fingers.

Let's try it again - first quarter of 2011
