You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Nook Touch Battery Question with wifi ON

[ Edited ]

I have yet to test the 2-month battery life with wifi off, but so far I have owned the Nook Touch for a week and wifi has been left ON constantly. I read about 1-2 hours a day, downloaded a total of 7-9 books. For the first few days, battery dropped by 5% a day. For the last couple days, it's been going down at 15-20% a day. Right now I am at the 1-week anniversary and the battery is at 15%.

Normal or something I should be concerned about? Does the advertised 3-week battery life assume pure standby and no usage whatsoever?

P.S. The battery indicator sometimes says "discharging" other times "not charging". What's the difference?

Re: Nook Touch Battery Question with wifi ON

B&N has stated that their bettery tests were based on reading for half an hour a day.  If you are reading for 1-2 hours a day, you won't get the full 3 weeks.

That's pretty much the same as I get.  Of course it depends on how much reading I do.

I should also note that I bring the Nook on subway train rides to and from school. Wifi's been down on campus for the last week as well. So I guess all that battery juice went into searching for actival wifi signal.
