I love my nook, although I am not in a monogamous relationship with it as I do cheat on it frequently with real books, and I am thinking about getting a memory card for it. My question is, If I do and then choose to upgrade later to the new Nook Touch with back glow light will all my books transfer along with the card not just the B&N books? I have a fair amount under "My documents" that I have downloaded from Project Guttenburg (highly recommended by the way) that I don't want to have to re-download.

When you move the card over to your new Nook all the information should be there.

That is the one of the purposes of using SD cards. An SD card is just a solid state hard drive.

I replaced my N1E with an N2E. I popped the SD card out of the N1E, into the N2E and all of my books were present and worked. :-)

Of course you'll need to move all the files on your NOOK from the internal storage to the SD card before attempting this.

Does it walk you through how to do this when you insert your memory card? Or how do you do it?

Do what? Move files from internal storage to the SD card?
I prefer using Calibre (it's a free program you can download, and there is a pretty good tutorial video at the beginning). Calibre makes managing my eBooks pretty easy.

And that program works better than Adobe e-reader? Do you still need Adobe for library books?

You will still need Adobe for library books and any books purchased that use Adobe Adept DRM (most books from Sony, Kobo, Google, and others).
