It was the new E-ink system and the longer battery life that sold me. I really like the new reader.

I had the chance to toy with the Nook 2 the other day and I wasn't impressed. I found the menus to be awkwardly arranged and the touch screen seemed very slow to respond. I'm hoping it was just the demo model in my B&N, but I'm not very optimistic. I think I will keep saving for a Nook Color.

Not sure if you've already made your decision but here's my 2bits.
I purchased the N1e one week prior to the release of the N2e. I had a bit of time to get used to my N1e. At the time, I really enjoyed the old nook and had no complaints. I like the dual screen. That bit of color was cool. I guess I'm a visual type. I like eye candy. The browser was ok. It was cumbersome and basically just there. It was nice tohave just in case you needed to look up something. That was about the usefullness of the browser.
D-day, The N2e became available to sample at our local B&N store. At first, I didn't care much for it's size and simplicity. What No Mp3? That was one of the features of the N1e that I liked. No Browser? That was another feature of the N1e that I liked. At that point, the not having those 2 was a deal breaker.
Then something kept gnawing at me. "try me, try me," With B&N's 14 day return policy, I decided to return my N1e to give the N2e a go. For a couple of days, I kept looking for reasons to return it and get my old nook back but resisted the urge.
The N2e began to appeal to me, I began to appreciate it's simplicity. I overcame the fact that it didn't have the MP3 player which drained the battery on the N1e. I used my phone's mp3 in its place and BTW was a much better player with more options. With the experience I had on the browser of the N1e, It really didn't bother me that I couldn't surf the net. For that purpose the N1e was useless.
Then someone posted "Hidden Browser" useable. I found out how to access the browser on the N2e and found that it was much better than the N1e's and the K3. That sealed the deal. I am keeping my N2e and am enjoying the reading experience tremendously.
Just MHO.
Good Reads,
Carl

[Erased, as I corrected the post in the next one, using IE instead of Firefox.]

Am using IE this time instead of Firefox to post, as my Firefox 4 doesn't work well on these forums. Was able to edit the first one down to explain.. Apologies.
Carl, you said:

How can it be better when there are so many reports that when you 'google' a word, the Nook Touch web browser crashes?
It's "hidden" for a reason. B&N's chart comparing the Nook Touch to the Nook 1 shows it as not having a browser. Their standard is that it be a correctly-functioning one and they didn't have time for that, according to a quote I saw in an online article.
Yes, it can handle touch navigation web-wise, which will be better when it works right, but the functioning is crippled because they haven't had a chance to refine the embedded default Android OS web browser so that it works well with the Nook Touch hardware. They hope to be able to do that later, I read.
