PDF zooming fixed yet?

I chose the Nook because one of the features listed by B&N marketing

was the ability to read PDF files. Imagine my dismay when I realized

the feature was not really useable. Many PDF files are images of

scanned-in pages. When viewed in the Nook, the whole page is

showing at the same time, and that means the text and images are so

tiny, you can't read them! I cannot find any way to zoom into the page

to be able to actually read the PDF file. I saw a lot of old discussions

last year about this problem and there was talk that a future update

would fix the problem. I have the software version 1.7.0, which seems

to be the latest version, and I still cannot find a zoom function to read the

PDF files. Am I missing something? Did the 1.7.0 software not include

a fix to this problem?

Also, can anyone tell me how to set up audio playlists so I can keep my morse code practise files from playing when I want to listen to music? Or is this another glaring omission in features that hasn't been addressed in the 2-3 year span of this product's existence?

Pan and Zoom is not supported on any NOOK.

You can't   The N1E doesn't support playlists.

If this is true, it is rather pathetic. If B&N can't be bothered to fix such glaring omissions (I mean, what is the point in advertising you support PDFs when you can't really read them?), the least B&N should do in this case is release the applications in source code to the public so we could fix them!

You CAN read them, if they are formatted in a way that works with a 6-inch screen.  Read the specs.  Nowhere in there is it stated that there is pan and zoom capability.  Also, this is a device that B&N declared as end-of-life over 6 months ago, that was released over two years ago, and has no future updates coming, so what exactly are you expecting at this point?

As far as releasing the code, I'm assuming you're referring to B&N's proprietary e-reader application that sits on top of the android platform.  They wrote the code, they have no obligation to make it public.  I believe that the vanilla android code is free and available to whoever wants it, so feel free to build your own PDF reader with pan and zoom and all the bells and whistles you want on top of it.

I'm on Goodreads - If you friend me send me a PM :smileyhappy:
