Purchased/downloaded books won't open

I got my nook (black & white) for christmas and have great success.  I have purchased quite a few books, have downloaded a few free ones and even downloaded some books from another site and sideloaded it to my nook and all has worked well with the exception of a few.  There were three books that I purchased from Barnes and Noble website.  I downloaded them and they show in my library but I can't open them on my Nook.  When I click to read them it goes right back to the library screen.  I archived them and unarchived them and they still won't open.  I downloaded the app so that I can read them on my pc.  I can open them on my pc.  I tried to download them again from the Barnes and Noble site and it doesn't download like the others.  It gives me a save or run option.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I saw that someone else posted having a similar problem and I tried the solutions that were given but I still can't open the books.  Thanks for any help. .

Re: Purchased/downloaded books won't open

These are books your Nook has downloaded via wifi/3G by pressing Update on your Nook…right?.  And they are in your My BN Library, but won’t open.  If that’s the case, it might be a bad book.  Might have to call tech support on that since archive and unarchive isn’t working.

IF you download directly to your pc from your BN online library, click ‘Save’, then save it to your desktop, or ebook downloads, or wherever you stash your ebooks.  You might want to keep your BN ebook downloads in a separate folder from your other ebooks since they are kind of a different animal from regular epubs.  In order to use those pc downloads, you must sideload them to My Documents on your Nook.  They won’t work in the BN Library folder.  Different format than what your Nook downloads.

Re: Purchased/downloaded books won't open

I just had something VERY similar happen with the newest edition of Runner's World Magazine.  It downloaded....VERY slowly...and then when I went to "read", all I got was a black page with the name of the magazine across the top.

I archived and unarchived...TWICE!  Finally, I turned the Nook off completely.  Not time out, but held down the power button so I got the confirmation note for turning the device completely off.  When I turned it back on, I downloaded the magazine for the third time and...was able to open up the magazine and read!  Yay!

When you archived/unarchived, after archiving, you connected the Nook to the store via WiFi or 3G and tapped check for new content, correct?  Just wanted to be sure, because that is what removes the book and then connecting again will re-download it.

Downloading directly from the website using the download option downloads to your PC, not the Nook, the reason for the save or run dialog window.  You would have to determine where to save it on your computer.
