So excited... got my Nook....

I set my Nook up tonight and I am off and running... errrr reading that is. Yahoooooo....

I was so worried I was going to have trouble but everything went off without a hitch.  Thank goodness my son taped the password to my netgear wireless router to the side of my old desktop monitor when he set it up a few years ago because the one that shows up in the computer when you click to open the router was wrong......

Anywho, I opened my first book which is Dan Brown, The Lost Symbol.

So happy and just wanted to share and would appreciate any input for this Nook Newbie! :smileyhappy:

Re: So excited... got my Nook....

Thank you all!

Now I just need to decide on a cover.  I can't decide if I should get one of those that look like a book cover or just something I can put it into and zip it or snap it shut.  Decisions... decisions! :smileyvery-happy:

Be sure to pick up your free Presidents' Day classics from the good folks at B&N.

My answer is, "yes". Seriously, I have ended up with a book style cover (JAVOedge cherry blossom) for at home. It is what I am most comfortable holding while reading. The cover totally flips back and the cover has a magnet to hold is closed. I recently bought an M-edge Latitude jacket that zips closed. I like how this protects my NOOK when I toss it in my purse or other bag for travel.

Re: So excited... got my Nook....

Congratulations!!

I really DO know how you feel, my Nook arrived today, and this is like every Christmas and birthday rolled into one!!

I'm losing my mind over the "which cover" decisions, though after holding it for a while, I know I want something like a "book" rather than a sleeve - for me, I'll feel more protected. I mean, I'll feel it is more protected.

This is so much fun!!  :smileyhappy:

Re: So excited... got my Nook....

I'm happy to hear that you're off to a great start!  You're going to love reading on the Nook.

It sounds like you have a similar taste in authors to me, too.  Love Dan Brown's novels.  You might enjoy The Shadow War by Glen Scott Allen as well.

So this is my second e-reader (I already own a Kindle) and in trying to find the perfect sleeve/case for my Kindle I ended up buying four.  A purse sleeve, a neoprene sleeve, a book style case, and a flip style case.  I loved the purse style sleeve but wanted something I could read directly out of as at the time I lived in the DC area and was constantly reading my device on the metro, so I tried a Javoedge flip style case and fell in love.  My new Nook is inheriting the purse case as I like the feel of the Nook naked without a case when reading (that contoured rubber back is awesome for ease of holding).  But still, I'd recommend the Javoedge flip style.  It covers all the non-essential portions of the device securely (the wones with the elastic bands did not look stable to me) yet is the lightest of the cases I bought with the exception of the neoprene sleeve.  The flip stand is also awesome for reading while eating.  I use it every day while I eat lunch in the breakroom.

I found the one for the Nook and am linking it here.  I got mine in bamboo, but didn't see many options on Amazon for the Nook right now.  They have more at Javoedge's main website, however they cost more and don't have the coupon code (kindlebd or nooknack) which gets you an extra 15% off.

This was my favorite design on the javoedge website for Nook

How do you like that M-Edge cover?  I bought the B&N Latiner (I may be off on the spelling) for my at home use, it is super thin and folds back really nicely.  BUT I have been eyeballing the same M-Edge every time I go into best buy, I would use it when we go off on vacation or travel or something where the nook may get carried around a lot more.  it looks like a great case - do you like it?

Re: So excited... got my Nook....

AndyfromVA, thank you for the link I will be downloading a few of those.  I did not know about the freebies and it's so nice how people share the wealth on this board.

Haleakala_LKB, thank you for the book cover suggestion.  I am seriously leaning toward this since you can prop the Nook up without having to hold it.  Great plus for long periods of reading.

Runnergirl77, I will check out The Shadow War book that you recommended it looks intriguing.

And thank you everyone for your replies.  I am just having fun getting used to the Nook and the Barnes and Noble site and these boards.  Was busy spending $ last night on a few more books and I better watch out because I will be reading several books at once if this keeps up.  I bet I wouldn't be the only one to be doing that. :smileywink:

I think you are talking about the B&N Lautner? My husband and is father both have it and like it. Light, flips back easily, magnet tab holds it open while reading and closed when not. My husband's only slight reservation is the clips that hold the NOOK in. They are plenty secure, that is not a problem, but they hold it firmly enough he thinks it quite likely they will eventually snap off. He has also said that, on occasion, he could see maybe having a pocket in the inside cover, but not really a big deal.

I really like my Latitude Jacket. Zips closed easily, and will zip open for reading. The M-edge light fits in well. Light, protective, just what I wanted for slipping the NOOK in my bag and not worrying about a nail file or something  slipping into the cover and scratching. I like my JAVOedge bookstyle better for around the house still though. Of course, it's pretty.:smileyvery-happy:

Yep, the Lautner (I was too lazy last night to look it up ha ha).  That is the one I have now.  I wanted a thinner, lighter one that folded over on itself and this one was perfect.  I have no need for a front pocket so not a big deal to me.

I think before we go on our big vacation in June though to the beach I wil be getting the latitude for that trip.  I would rather have it zipped up when I am not using it and toss it into a beach bag or something
