I'm betting you have your Daily set to just show Feeds.

If you set it to show ALL, I bet Dave re-appears.

Need to be able to choose what you want in your "The Daily" page.

Re: The Daily

Okay, how did you get rid of Dave Barry.  I want to get rid of Dave Barry too.  I think putting the same article in the header day after day with todays date is not funny.  How about some current tips too?

Re: The Daily

I'm stil trying to get rid of the week of 3/8/10 specials that shows up every time I visit The Daily.  I can get rid of it when I update but when I go in again later it pops back up.

It's gone on mine too. I just noticed this week, I think, that it was gone. It may have been gone before then (with the 1.4 update) but not sure.

It was amusing to read when I got the nook, but annoying that it never went away. Not like I was going to reread it.

He's still on mine, I just checked for new content and he's there...  I never look at the thing anymore...

Re: The Daily

The funny thing about the Dave Barry, was it was getting a new date every time you downloaded it.  And it downloaded every time.

I wonder if they were using it to count how many leave airplane mode off  or something.

Re: The Daily

I've had my Nook for 3 weeks now and have only looked at the Daily once, which was on the first day.

Re: The Daily

There's got to be more than this for the Daily.  It looks like they just gave up.

I wonder how many Nooks have been sold?  If this is not top secret information, I think they should post the running total on the Daily, just like Mcdonald's does with their hamburgers.:smileyhappy:

Re: The Daily

My Daily has fresh downloads for 7-7-10 and Dave Berry  is not one of them.

Re: The Daily

[ Edited ]

The Daily will be a great feature once its finished. The thing is 'the Daily' NEEDS RSS functionality. Once it can read RSS, it can literally be my daily news source that I read with coffee every morning. Leaving the nook in standby, it can update the RSS in the background and format the articles perfectly.

Hopefully, this feature is there but not implemented just because the web browser is in BETA. While you dont NEED a web browser for rss (to 'read entire article' for feeds that just publish snippits'), I suspect that once the browser is done that RSS may be put there (which will pop into the browser when needed).

But until 'The Daily' has RSS feed capabilities, it is useless.

I agree.  An RSS reader (or Google Reader integration, it is Android after all) would be an awesome addition to The Daily.

Re: The Daily

Actually, I love The Daily. I really enjoy the Daybook.  It has led me to some really great books that I might have missed otherwise and just generally increased my knowledge.  For example, there was a post the other day about George Orwell, which mentioned his book 'Down and Out in Paris and London' (excellent book) and it mentioned that the idea came from Jack London and his book 'The People of the Abyss'.  I'd never heard of the London book, so I searched for it on my nook, found a free Google book and am reading it now.  It's completely fantastic.  Just amazing.  And to think I might have missed it but for that Daybook article.  So yay for Daybook.  There's a book called The Intellectual Devotional which is a bit of literary wisdom for each day (in much the same way that religious devotionals give spiritual thoughts for each day) and that is what the Daybook reminds me of.  I visited Steve King's (the guy who writes Daybook) blog, though, and found that the nook version is usually condensed.  I wish the whole thing were available every day.

Also I have a subscription to The New Yorker and it's delivered to The Daily every Monday.  I seldom read the entire magazine when it arrives, so I find I visit The Daily all week to read the latest issue, like on my lunch break or when stuck in traffic or whenever I want to read but don't have time to get immersed in a book.

The Unbound is also nice because it highlights books i might not otherwise know about, like Wasson's book about Breakfast At Tiffany's, which I found really interesting.

I agree with others, though, that I would really like to lose Your New Nook and Nook Tips.  I just don't need them anymore.  I also agree with Smokey that we will eventually see much more in The Daily, like RSS feeds, which will be fantastic.

Re: The Daily

You are very lucky, guys.

When I'm checking my Daily, I see nothing, because I don't get any news from B&N. And I don't know why, the WiFi connection establishes successfully and I can load webpages by internal browser..

Hit check for new content in your B&N library, that will usually update the daily...
