Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Re: Thinking of Not Blacklisting Missing Nook. Thoughts?

@annoyed namecalling folks. I did not think cross posting with link to original thread was spamming, at least not on other boards I've been on, my deepest apologies if so. I know that one of the most annoying things to see on boards is posts/replies with useless information. Myquestsion seemed to apply to several threads. Feel free to just not reply or report my post as spam, save your replies for posts you care about.

@ helpful folks - Thanks for your suggestions. Family just got me a iPad mini for my birthday, so I figured the nook would turn up as you mentioned, not yet, but maybe soon. :smileyhappy:

Yes, cross-posting is spamming.  If I remember correctly, it's also a violation of the forum rules (and as someone has reported you, I probably do remember correctly).  In fact, it's a violation of most forums' rules, not just this one.

When you have a question, pick the best forum and post it there.  That gives the best chance of the right people seeing it, and when folks aren't annoyed by you saying the same thing six times, they're a lot more likely to help you.

Re: Thinking of Not Blacklisting Missing Nook. Thoughts?

keriflur,Thanks for the reply and thanks for keeping it friendly.

I will be more mindful of cross posting in the future, if anything to not annoy people who are active in all boards. However, I don't see anything about it in the forum rules (the ones that I could find anyway) that support your statement.

There are clear examples of spamming, and cross posting is not one of them. but again, I will avoid all of this trouble in the future and just gamble on one board.

If you see others cross posting in the future, perhaps you could point them to the rules where it shows they shouldn't, rather than just snapping at them and reporting a pretty legitimate question.

I'm guessing the one report I got (if it wasn't from you) was from the other poster who called me an awful name (you know because folks are all about the love on these anonymous forums) and I reported them, so it was likely retribution. We'll see what the moderator decides to do.

I'm happy to take it down, but then we'd lose all of this banter, and in all honesty, it might be helpful to some other unsuspecting fool like me to attempts to cross post.

So I take it that you are still protesting my post and have nothing to add on my question?

So long and thanks for all the fish.

Re: Thinking of Not Blacklisting Missing Nook. Thoughts?

Since this appears to be a meta-discussion at this point, here's another 2 cents: I've been involved in message boards since 1980 and I don't see any other way to get widespread eyes on your question without linking to a post, as you did.  I, for one, don't follow every discussion on this board.  Though I did see two discussions with your cross-post, I just thought "OK, saw that already".  It wasn't a big deal.  I must say--as an early user of usenet!--that some of the folks on this site are really some of most prickly I've ever seen.  I've spent a lot of time pondering it, and I frankly can't put my finger on the psychology.  I've dealt mostly with tech boards over my career, but even on the political ones I don't often see the level of rudeness and hubris that crops up occasionally on these B&N customer forums.  'Tis a puzzle.
