Three Nooks later, who is still using their N1E?

I still have it and use it on a semi-regular basis.  I use my NSTG more often now.

I used mine this week when my NC needed recharging. I loaned my NST to my sister so she could read some of my books. All my nooks work fine. I guess I've been lucky.

I used to be Snow White, but I drifted.

Takes a licken and keeps on ticken!

Superior battery life and still great resolution.  Replacing would be silly.

Use it every day - no problems for the past almost 2 years.

Re: Three Nooks later, who is still using their N1E?

Got my NOOK 1E in January of 2010, December of 2011 got a WiFi 1E for my daughter.

A little less than a year later the N1E WiFi had a screen problem and B&N replaced it under warranty with a NST.

I got an iPad through work and gave my N1E to my wife. I then won an iPad in a drawing and gave that to my wife. The N1E ended up gathering dust on a bookshelf until 3 days ago when a member of my wife's book club mentioned that her kindle wasn't working.

I took the N1E off the bookshelf, charged it, and synced to my library with no problems. Then lent it to wife's friend to read her book on.

So in my household we have one N1E, one NST, two iPads with NOOK app, my android phone with NOOK app, and my laptop with NOOK for MacOS. All linked to the same account with over 500 books in it (many of them free).

Re: Three Nooks later, who is still using their N1E?

Yup, I still use my N1E, it's great for sitting by the pool and especially like it when I go camping, because of the 3G feature I really like being able to get that next book in a series no matter where I am. I also have at Nookcolor which I use when ever I'm reading indoors or before bed. Love and use them both:smileyhappy:

My sister is still using her old WiFi model that I bought for her a couple years ago, but I'm got her pretty well convinced to dump it and buy a Glowlight as soon as she has the cash.

You sound like me........I have the N1E, which I gave to my husband (he now uses it daily)when I got my NC and then my NST............and I have the NOOK app on my new iPad, and the NOOK for PC on my PC and on my laptop. And the majority of my 600+ books were free, also.

My biggest problem? Remembering to keep all of these devices charged!! :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Three Nooks later, who is still using their N1E?

Still have my original 3G Nook, still read almost every day with it.

I was thinking of upgrading to the Glow Light Nook but, really, the N1E is still doing the job perfectly.

I got mine Christmas 2009 as my first and only nook.  After 10 months it had the cracked cover at the "next page" area on right side. and B&N replaced it with a refurbished unit that was suppose to have the covers that don't crack. I say suppose because 9 months later its cover cracked in the same area and B&N wouldn't replace it because it was now out of warranty. But I just taped it and am still using it.

I got mine just before they added the wifi only Nook.  I still love it.  We don't have wifi at work, so the 3g is really handy.  I won't change unless it dies.

Re: Three Nooks later, who is still using their N1E?

I got mine right at two years ago, July 2010.  I understand that the AT&T 3G is included at no extra charge for the life of my Nook so I'm taking full advantage of that.  It still works great.  I also understand that the operating system will not be updated but it has been working fine for me.  I'm in no rush to get a new one.

Re: Three Nooks later, who is still using their N1E?

I received one of the first 3G nooks in December of 2009. It was still working great until today!  I had it in a water-resistant case and it fell into my pool.  Still got water in the case and now my nook is frozen. I took the battery out several times but it is still not cycling on.  It is showing my screen saver though.  I also have a nook tablet, but that is why I use the old nook in the pool.  Just in case water did get into it, and also because you can see better in the sunlight with the nook 3g than with the tablet.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that the original starts working again.

I really got on here to search and see if anyone else has had this happen to them and what they did about it.  Guess I will start searching.

Re: Three Nooks later, who is still using their N1E?

I ordered mine before they were even out and got it Christmas Eve 2009 and am still using it. I read on it daily and would not think of getting a new one until it totally dies.  It even has the cracked page turns but that doesn't stop me from loving it. I do occassionally read printed books but I mainly read ebooks nowadays.

Re: Three Nooks later, who is still using their N1E?

My N1E is still being used a lot, just not necessarily by me. It's almost 2 years old and works perfectly. I've never had a single problem with it ( except for a wifi issue that turned out to be my own fault). I got an NST almost a year ago (which also has always worked perfectly) and gave the N1E to my kids. All 3 use it and love it, even the 4 year old. She likes to look at the pictures in Alice in Wonderland. It's been dropped more than once, funny enough by me and not any of the kids, and still works fine.

Still on my first and only nook first edition. The only replacement that has me drooling is the Glow.

The standard approach to this is to remove the battery and place the unit into a sealed "baggie" filled with dry rice for about a day. The rice will absorb the water. Nothing's guaranteed, but a lot of people have had success reviving electronics that have been dunked in non-salt water using this technique.
