How do I find out which B&N have a cafe? I thought mine did, but it turns out it's just a separate Starbucks attached to the B&N. They won't honor any of the free Nook stuff. I'd like to find out which B&N in my area have a cafe so that if I'm in the area, I might stop by. I can't find a way to find out on bn.com. Thanks.

Someone on here said before that if the cafe has a separate entrance and can be shut off from B&N... it's the Starbucks version, not the B&N cafe version. I don't know of a way to tell through the website though.

Yes. That seems to be the case. I'd like to be able to find out which ones have a cafe, as opposed to an independent Starbucks, before scouting them out in person.

Here's what someone complained about on FB...
My husband and I brought our Nooks for the Godiva. I had to give her my phone to show the promo on facebook. She needed a promo code to make my free gift legitimate, I didn't have one to give her. Please attach promo codes to future promotions. Thanks.
And in another thread, here's what the B&N rep responded with...
Thank you for posting. We're striving to improve the reading experience and your input is valuable.
The "FREE GODIVA GEMS" can be found when you enter a Barnes and Noble store and tap on Shop then arrow down and go to the Special Offers and Articles section and press the right arrow to go to the second offer.
Also make sure that you are connected to the B&N Store Wifi.

Remember, when you're giving away free stuff, it's best to make it a little difficult: saves money in the end, but looks like great Marketing!

I would try looking on the Starbucks site. If you can find it there, then it's a regular Starbucks not just a B&N Cafe.

If the B&N employees work in it, then it's a Cafe not a Starbucks. The Cafe's all sell Starbucks coffee and other products, In believe it says something like Cafe, Powered by Starbucks. In can be somewhat confusing, but here are the ways to tell:
Starbucks (not a cafe):
You have to pay for your purchases before entering.
It has a "door" of some type and it can be closed off from the Starbucks. (This is so the Starbucks can be open in the morning when the BN is closed)
You can use Starbucks gift cards
Sells all the regular Starbucks food and drink.
Employees are Starbucks employees, not B&N employees.
Cafe
You can take your purchases in before paying and sit and read while enjoying your coffee.
It doesn't have a "door" per say, it is usually fairly open to the store.
They sell some Starbucks products, mostly the drinks, the food is usually different. My cafe sells Cheesecake Factory cheesecake.
You can use your B&N membership to get a discount
You can pay for purchases with a BN gift card.
As someone else pointed out, go to the Starbucks website and look up the stores in your area and see if the Starbucks is listed. If it is, then it's a Starbucks. If it isn't then it's a B&N Cafe. \
Or call the store and ask. They should know.
It's mainly the older stores that have Starbucks instead of Cafes. I know the one near me that has the Starbucks would like to convert it to a Cafe, but Starbucks won't give up the lease.

If it is a Cafe the cups, signs, etc. will say "Barnes and Noble Cafe Serving Starbucks Coffee" (like this). A Starbucks should not say that.

Are you scrolling down to the big rectangle box at the bottom of the shop screen that shows the special offers and then turning to the second page?

Just like anything else when it comes to B&N content on the nook, go to the B&N library and hit "check for new content" after you log onto the store network. That will update the store offerings, it's a pain but it works....

Since some people are having trouble with this promotion, I just wanted to point out that some stores ARE on the ball with it.
I walked up with my nook (on Tuesday) and just started to ask "where can I find..." and the cafe girl was pulling out the box from under their counter and already scanning it for me.
Problem I'm having is convincing myself not to stop by too often for this yummy treat! (and maybe grabbing a raspberry smoothie to go with it!)

Yum, Chocolate!!
My store is so very friendly. I can't say enough good things about them (for anyone who wants a great experience Cranberry, PA BN)
I am in there all the time and they know I have a nook. When that chocolate promotion was out yesterday I did not have my nook with me and did not know about it but the CS rep manning the nook kiosk came over and gave me one because he knows I have one.
They were delicious!
