Simple fix for all of this. Buy the items in the store.

B and N shipping and service and the Argix shipping is a joke> Argix is 1.5 miles up road from Barnes and Noble warehouse and took 1/15 to 1/20 from books to get to Argix; then took 3 more days for books to leave Argix. then Argix shipped it from Monroe NJ west to near Pittsburg PA which was as far from Geneva NY as was the NJ warehouse. B and N and Argix stinks and there costumer service people don't care even if you get them on phone after waiting over 30 minutes. DON'T buy from Barnes and Noble.

So basically you created a user account and made one post so you could add to a thread that was 2 months old.
By the way, when I got my replacement Nook it was sent UPS and I received it within 3 days. Argix (whatever that is) is not their universal shipping method.

What is/was Argix?
What is/was the definitive point you're trying to make in this rant?
Is there anything the people on this Board can help you with?
Do you even have a nook?

Ordering Books is not like ordering a pizza. just because argiz is 1.5 miles away from B&N warehouse does not mean there is some 19 year old that jumps in his ford escort, lights the tie down sign on his hood, and promises to get the books to Argix in under 30 minutes or they are free.
perhaps the B&N warehouse did not have them in the 1st place. so regardless of proximity to shipper, they may of had to obtain said product initially. even then shipping items consists of a fairly elaborate process.
here is a question for you rcy (please return and answer) - there are different shipping levels you can choose. Did B&N MEET the stated # if business days that you paid for? for exapmle if standard shipping is 7-10 days (just an example) and you paid for standard did you get it in the time frame promised? Unless you paid for example for 2 days shipping and did not get it for 5 then I am wondering what the issue is.
Please again come back and let me know if that is the case. I am interested in your response.

This sounds like Amazon shipments to me. When I order directly from Amazon my items take a tour of several states before heading in my direction. I have designated this as Tourist Shipping.
The items get here so I am not overly concerned. On occasion I think about driving to Ky with a large box and asking them to ship me home. My purchases have seen more states than I ever will.

The one and only time I've had them use Argix shipping service, it go to me with the specified number of days. Not as fast as I usually get it with UPS, but within the alloted time. The frustrating part was that their website never seemed to be updated for tracking purposes, but USPS was also involved and my tracking number worked there.
But I agree with the other poster, just because the shipper is down the street doesn't mean they run down the street and give it to them. First, the order has to go to the warehouse and it has be packed up. Your order doesn't just magically jump to the front of the line, there are a lot of other folks who have orders placed, so it is put in a queue and packaged up for shipment when it hits the front of the queue. Then it is placed with lots of other boxes to go to the shipper. And don't believe the Argix website for tracking purposes, in my experience, their website was never updated. I had the item and their website still didn't have a status.
If you got it with the specified days, then they met their end of it.
Sometimes I get things really quickly, other times not so quickly but almost always within specified days.

Well, that's what I would have done if there were a B&N anywhere near me. As it was, I had a gift certificate and decided to purchase physical books from B&N. If I ever feel the need to do that again, I will seek an option to pay for shipment via a company with sensible tracking methods. But more than likely I will not buy a physical shipment item from B&N again. Amazon gives much better service with their free shipment program and Books A Million has a brick and mortar closer than 100 miles to my home/work.
My experience is not that bad....YET. I am still waiting on my order. I placed the order a week ago and have been checking the "tracking". I have dealt with companies that ship via USPS before and immediately groaned when I saw this shipment would finally be delivered by them. USPS does not give very good tracking. But, what is the point of this Argix company if they actually do the shipping to the USPS and cannot keep track of the item to that point? My tracking was going fine, tracked in Memphis (which is at least in the same state) and then suddenly it is now tracked in Colorado a day later. It takes nearly a week to go from NJ to TN and then one day to go across the country nowhere near where it needs to go? Something is not right about that.

I'm amazed that you are actually able to track it, I've never been able to track anything shipped by Argix, however, I've also received the items within the specified time frame, so I really can't complain at this point.
As far as shipping items to locations far away from where they need to be, I've seen this happen with UPS. I tracked a shipment to my mom in Washington once, it was ordered from Amazon, it went from the Washington warehouse to somewhere in Oregon, to somewhere in the midwest before it went back to Washington, so that issue isn't unique to Argix. And I've had more lost packages with FedEx than anyone else.
I'm not fond of Argix, I'd rather have my stuff shipped UPS, but so far, everything has been receive on time and in good shape.

My first experience with Argix has been horrible so far as well. The "tracking" page provides little to no information. My book supposedly left the Argix facility in NJ on Monday. I am only 50 miles away so would expect it in a day or two. It is now Friday and tracking info has not even been updated. And if it is with USPS (I can't tell if it made it that far) it won't arrive today due to the holiday.

To the person who suggested the problem could be averted by buying the book in the store -- that would have been my preference. But the store did not have the book I needed. No choice but to order and wait for the horrible shipping service. Perhaps B&N should reinstate the Pony Express. Would be faster.

I used to order DTBs from B&N all the time, but last year this time service just fell off. I don't know if it was Argix in particular, but I do know that B&N's processing played a big role. I had pre-orders that took 4-5 days just to leave the warehouse. Sometimes the shipping just wouldn't update and the book would arrive before the website said it was shipped (but still days later than expected).
I had thought after the holidays it would get better, but it didn't. So, now I order all my DTBs from Amazon. I don't buy that many anymore as I buy almost everything in ebook format, but B&N has lost my DTB business because they've seemingly forgotten how to provide good shipping service.

AGREE - Argix awful and B&N doesn't seem to care. I have been a BN member for YEARS and also am Amaz Prime member. I needed to order 3 books for my HS son and needed them within 1 week. So I gave B&N the business. Ordered 7/19, all three items "Shipped" via 'free 1-3 bus day member' shipment. Which means I should have had all 3 items Wed 7/25, at WORST.
The tracking for Argix shows NOTHING - not available. Called B&N. They can't see tracking either. Replacement offered - but it'd be shipped THE SAME WAY, so that means I'd be looking at NEXT WED - one MORE WEEK.
Really? That's all you can do, B&N?
I give up. I just ordered the 3 items from Amazon because my son needs them. Am sure it'll arrive from Amazon via UPS tomorrow. Or worst case on Sat or Mon.
If the ones from B&N ever arrive (doubtful?!?!), I will have to return them to the store.
B&N - if you want to stay in business and compete w/ Amazon, you have to use a shipping company that actually delivers - even ROUGHLY - when you promise it. AND have tracking info that works.
Sigh.
