contributer question

I understand the "new  contributer" but what's the number of posts to be "contributer", "frequent contributer", "inspired contributer", "scribe" etc?

Re: contributer question

I always assumed it had to do with number of laurels, though this is only a guess.  And I don't know the specific number.

Re: contributer question

I'm sure there's a secret formula somewhere.  But since the site redesign I'm sure it will remain a secret.

@hollygNJ

I've been a Scribe for a long time,and I can't figure it out.

I don't actually mind them calling me a "Scribe" so much.  But if they ever decide to upgrade it to "Pharisee", somebody at B&N is going to be in for a REALLY bad day!  :smileymad:

Re: contributer question

If it's like most boards the number of posts will determine it.

Re: contributer question

It's not a simple answer. Lithium's ranking system is thought to be one of the most complex ranking systems of any forum software. It tries to reward for more than just being a blabbermouth. Making posts does count, but so do other factors. Reportedly, reading posts also counts. It's almost certain that receiving laurels counts, and it seems that giving laurels also counts.

In the end, your ranking is what it is. It doesn't really affect much. At certain points—which might not even be related to the ranking but rather to laurels given and/or received—you might give more than one laurel when you give laurels. Beyond that, I don't think there are any particular benefits.

Re: contributer question

I didn't even know there are benefits, I was just curious. Inspired Scribe just sounds so cool!

And what's a laurel and how do you give/recieve one?

A laurel is a commendation/praise/thank you etc. for a post.  It could be a thank you for an answer or someone's response that you totally agree with.

You give it by clicking on the dark green bar with a laurel (looks like a fern) on the bottom of the post below the person's name on the left hand side of the post.

Re: contributer question

I never know when my title will be and it is funny how quickly it will change.  To me, laurel system is a fun way to tell a poster "I agree," “You made be laugh.” or "thanks for helping me."   It also allows me to decide who I might follow in my B&N Profile.  Generally, the posters with a high number of laurels are "usually" the ones that are posting polite and relevant information in the community.  I have also noticed that laurels are more often awarded to posters in the blog-style community locations.  Perhaps that is because the posting there are very actively monitored for replies by the moderators, admins, bloggers, etc. who have a great desire to see responses to the original posting.  Of course, it could also be because the emotions on those other boards are not quite as raw as the ones we sometimes have in the Nook boards.
