can you purchase specific books and give them as gifts to people? I want to purchase a couple books off of a friends wish list instead of giving a gift card.
Thanks!

Not at B&N. Only Amazon and Kobo provide the ability to give a specific e-book. NOOKs can read e-books from Kobo.
Note: unlike a printed book, e-books generally aren't returnable. Be sure what you're giving will be appreciated and unduplicated.

That sounds like an argument in favor of gift cards rather than specific ebooks. ![]()

If you want to see how to gift ebooks on all the retailers you can go to www.giftofe.com and check out the how-to videos.

You can purchase an ebook for someone in the store if you have the email of the recipient. But, as mentioned before, there are no returns, so it seems unnecessarily risky. The previously posted video shows an easy way to give a b&n egift card and they can choose any book.

What's more, now you can send e-cards to your loved ones Nooks. Just did a quick search on BN site and there is a lot of Valentine's Day cards there:
