Yes the screen is defective you will need to get your Nook replaced.

Yes and the sad part about it is that it will spread all over the screen. I sent mine in 2.5 months ago and no one has bothered to call me or email me about the $250 product. I went to the B&N where I purchased it at. They had no record of when I had dropped it off, It was "LOST" or miss placed. This experience sucks not because of the malfunctioning device but because of the HORRIBLE Customer Service.

Wait a minute--you said you "sent it in" 2.5 months ago, and then you went to the store where you purchased it? Why would you go to the store and expect information on an item that you sent back to the company? And if you actually did send it in, didn't you get any type of tracking information?
Since this is your first post after registering today, I call B.S.

You should have called BN suport. They mail a new one in a day and then you send the old one back. It happened to me twice and if they cannot staighten it out, I'll just keep getting it replaced. Too much money for that to happen and I love the nook itself.

My husband bought my Nook for my birthday last Nov. By Jan. I had to send it back for a new screen because it was getting lines across the screen. It took only about a week to get the new one, but within a month the screen was doing the same thing. I sent the second one back, got a replacement and now guess what... The Screen Is Messed Up Again!!!!!!
I have been very, very careful with my Nook because I really love it, but I think that the screens are just defective.

try having this happen to 3 yes THREE nooks (2 of the original then they had to replace with a simple touch cause they werent making the origninal anymore) and this is all in JUST 13 MONTHS. I originally got this when it first came out as a christmas gift at 250$ now I have a great paperweight from my mom and a bunch of books I cant read except on my computer.

What they don't tell you is that your original extended warranty for $40 only covers the 1st replacement. After that you only get a short warranty and they give you a harder time when trying to get a replacement. What a ripoff.
We are also on our 3rd Nook. The first one lasted several months, the 2nd lasted 1 month and we are very careful!!! It is always kept in the cover. The same thing happened to both nooks - lines across the lower left part of the screen. I will not be recommending a Nook to anyone else due to their quality issues.
