I have a 3G iPad and the original nook. I like to read books on the black and white e-ink screen, and magazines on the glossy iPad. Am I missing anything by not upgrading to the NOOKcolor? I keep picking one up at Best Buy, but then talk myself out of it. If I'm missing out on even one little thing, please tell me.

Nook Color is NOT an upgrade to the Nook Classic. They're completely different products. Decide what your needs are and check the specs of both the Color and the Classic. Research Research Research....

Alan, I'm very aware that they are completely different products, and I've done plenty research on the classic, the color and the iPad. I was wondering, from any owner of the color, if there is any feature, app, exclusivity that I haven't found in my research - yet.

You might want to take your question to the Nook Color forum then. This is the Nook Classic forum.

As much as I like the NookColor (on the basis of my limited experience with it at the B&N store), I can't see buying it if one already owns an iPad. What can you do on the NookColor that you can't do on an iPad?

Is there any way to trade a nook classic to a color nook for an upgrade?

Through B&N? No. Unless you just got the e-ink one and are still in the timeframe to return it.
You can try selling the e-ink one on ebay or craigslist or something.

I think Best Buy offers a program that buys your electronics and then you can use the money to purchase something else.

Not to sound rude, but why are you so eager to "upgrade" to nookcolor? I happen to love my nook 3G and, I can't believe there's so many that are wanting to give up their nook classics. Plus like to point out this thread would been better served on one of the nookcolor pages.

Not the ones purchased from B&N they will be in your account online. Any side loaded books not loaded to an sd card will be lost. Those need to be saved to your computer. The easiest way is to copy the contents of the Nook drive and the sd card to the computer.

it seems to be quicker and more convenient to look up words as I am reading.

@LILYELLA
Welcome! ![]()
It's one of those "six of one, half dozen of the other" things:
the "tap/lookup" feature of NookColor is less klugey than the normal lookup feature of NookClassic. On the other hand, NookClassic lets you conjure up the keyboard to enter a word manually if Lookup lets you down; judging from comments NookColor owners have made here, if tap/lookup doesn't do it for you, you're stuck.

You can look up words on orginal Nook. I do it from time to time
