Since 1997, you’ve been coming to to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Re: B&N's In-Store Network (or lack thereof)

The statement you quoted is true.   I've done it in several different stores.   Not a word of that is false.

I have downloaded things only available in the store.   Did you select "More in store"?  Did you ask someone there to help?   You don't say, it seems more important to you to have something to complain about than to solve the problem or understand that there isn't a problem.  You do have to turn on and connect with WiFi ... if the nook is still in 3G mode, it doesn't behave as if it's in the store, even if it is.

The ability to read something you would ordinarily have to buy does not seem to be available yet but there are downloadable short publications.    I read a little piece by Dean Koontz that isn't otherwise available several weeks ago.   I downloaded it and it works when I am at home.   It's a complete freebie that isn't available if you don't go to the store.  Similarly there has been a discount opportunity for CD's in the music department.

Stop the self rightous anger.   I think it is very likely that you simply have not used the feature correctly and, the rest is not promised in your statement and is, as icebike says, "Coming soon".
